NY refuses to hold a parade for our troops that served in Afghanistan & Iraq. Strange. They'll have one every year to celebrate gayness, or for being from the Caribbean islands, or for winning a football game.. but not for serving your country and risking life & limb. Interesting.

I'm betting that Whitney Houston will have a parade before our Vets. Any takers?

Not taking that bet, but that does kind of annoy me. When I enlisted, I didn't do it for the medals, the parades (actually hate being in them), or even the chicks. There was more to it than that. I do feel that NYC is about as misguided as Target was/is (wouldn't allow the Toys for Tots because they didn't support the war, and their profits go to france). Just kind of makes my BP rise.

veterans day, do they not allow any parades then either. Seems to me veterans day parade where I live is for all services and conflicts.

What else can I say NY is NY. When I was in the military the best I could hope for was not to get spit on when I returned home. Now I do my best to make sure our returning Vets are not treated that way. As a member of the Patriot Guard Riders we honor our returning vets Dead or alive as best we can under the law.
So what do I have to say about NY F*** Them.

Let me give you my take on the parades. Hated them with a passion.
When I was in the National Guard and then Reserves I had to report for parade duty on holidays that everyone else had off. Couldn't spend time with my kids because every town wanted a marching unit. 4th of July,Memorial day, Veteran's day, I just was in a permanent state of p'ed off.
Let the Veteran's march, leave the still active alone.

Jocko I was being as PC as I can be on the topic. If I was to say how I really feel I'm quite sure I'd be asked to leave a forum that is one of my favorites.

Please I beg of you for the good of all mankind do not get me started. Thank you in advance. Respectfully The ever lovable and mostlly calmed down... Popeye.

What he said. ^^^^^

For all my brothers and sisters from earlier conflicts, welcome home, for the current warriors, don't let things turn sour, or let your service be forgotten.

Thank you Popeye for what you do as a member of the Patriot Guard Riders...I still can't figure out what some whacko group like The Westboro Baptist Church is thinking when they protest a funeral of a Vet KIA...It makes my blood boil both as a Citizen and a Christian...

I always love it when I see a person in the military in uniform in a store or something and when I go up to them shake their hand and say THANK YOU for serving our Country and see their face just light up with pride...IMO we can never say thank you enough!!!

what is needed with the Westboro clan is a damn good beating by the Patriot guard guys while the cops stand by and just clean their windshields off and ignore the crys for help.

Sooner than later they will get the hint that is it really worth a good butt kicking to protest. Course I am suggesting alittle violence and I am not a violent person but I am a realist. I had a dog once who wante dto sh-t in a place that I objected to. I think it took about 3 times for me to rub his nose in his sh-t and finally got the message..

Jocko, when I get to a town I might be one of those cops that has business away from those idiots. Now, if some other concerned citizens were to show some love to the family a couple of times, and there were a wall of bikes and flags preventing an officer from seeing what was going on, well that might be an entirely different matter. Seriously though, they want you to do something like that. When you do they will sue until the lawyers are tired of them. We needed the Patriot Guard a long time ago. Bravo Zulus to the riders.

Trust me I'm not normally violent. I can be a little on the nasty side if pushed to far and I would love to bounch one of those POS heads off the concrete a couple three times till what ever crap is in there heads comes bobbleing out there ears.:D However I'm not there for them, I'm there out of respect for the fallen warrior and there family. They have the right to morn there loved ones who gave all for his country in peace, and it shall be done.
. Popeye... No warrior, No hero, just a Patriot, and damn proud to be an American.

Thank you, Popeye, for your continuing service. When I got home from Asia in 1969, I was lucky enough to not have to confront the idiots. I flew off the boat a hundred miles out of San Diego and landed at Miramar. From there it was just a walk out the gate.

Gotta agree with HDoc. Joe don't want a parade, they suck. Buy him a beer instead.

Thank you, Popeye, .

Your welcome, and thank you for your service. But really no thanks is nessesary it's just something I feel I need to do. Can't say I'm all that crazy about doing parades and don't do that many, but it's part of the deal and sometimes it still the right thing to do, as I feel we have an entire generation of Americans that has lost it's national pride and that needs to end. If we continue to loose our national pride as some would like us to, we'll soon have no nation and the freedoms and rights we now have. That includes our 2nd ammendment rights, as it's all tied together. Have to tell ya when I look at my granddaughter I have to wonder what kind of America and world will she grow up in?:(

This forum represents a large number of men and women that have the same philosophies and beliefs. And after seeing how well this current generation stepped up to the plate and prosecuted the war in the middle east, I'd say we're in good shape.
I used to have my doubts about the young people of America because the media portrayed them so disparagingly. But, they have proven on the battlefield to be strong, intelligent and loyal. I'm damned proud of those that served.... before me, with me and after me.
