Does this typically mean something is wrong with my grip or could there be an issue with the gun(cm9)? I didn't have this issue last time at the range but this time it happened at least 6 times. I was making sure my grip wasn't on the button but it kept happening. Other than that issue the 100 rounds I shot went smooth. It definitely worries me since this is my EDC. Thanks

You can let someone else shoot it or shoot left handed. If the mag still drops check your mag catch/release at home I suppose just by pulling on mag when locked in,check the button for tension, things that might be wrong with it if not shooter error. I have never had that happen with any of my guns but when I think something might be not right I tinker with it. Does the mag snap in and the release button pop out in place. I don't know what if anything is wrong with your gun. Just some things I would do.

If it is not ur fnger causing it, then call kahr and ask them to send u a new mag release button, there is a tutorial on the kahr tech section. It will take u 5 minutes to change over. Certainly not worth sending it back. Shoot it left handed to see if that solves the issue. also let another shooter try the gun, If either produce no drops then consider t kshooter error andur grip needs to change.

also when the magazine is in the gun try pulling it back out. If u cannot do that then IMO it is shooter error..

You can also disassemble the pistol, take the mag apart, pull the spring and follower out and put the base plate back on, then insert the mag body into the frame to see how much of the mag button protrudes through the slot by looking down from the top.

If something is wrong you can see if the mag catch actually makes it into the slot in the magazine. It should stick in a little bit. This should tell you if you have a bad mag or a bad catch - if its the spring you will know by the release being too easy to push.

On my PM9 I once did not push the mag in all the way (I was at the range) and it was about 1/8" from latching. I actually got three shots off before it fell out!

I've had this happen the last couple of times shooting, with the same mag. I had taken one of the 7 round baseplates and cut it down to fit the 6rd mag. I don't think that I trimmed enough off the baseplate and wasn't getting good lock up with the mag catch. After sanding a little, it seems to get a more solid "click", but I will not carry that mag till I test it more.
