does anyone know if i can buy just the slide, no components, just the slide? Or anyone have one for some odd reason to sell? cosmetic doesn't matter that much, looking to experiment with polishing but i never do anything like that on the original ;)

Kahr lists only the slide for a PM9. so I would think that you could buy a slide. If it's not on their site, you could just give them a call.

wow that souond slike a ver expensive way to practice. why not send to a good gun specialy place who does that stuff every day. would be far less money and more than likely done to ur complete satisfaction to. I have no doubt u can buy a slide from kahr though.

or why not do it to the original andif u fokk it up. then buy a new slide from kahr or then just send it off to a gun specialist place to get the job done right. It is very hard to RUIN a slide by oolishing unless one is a real TWIT.

Polishing is an art, Jocko. Anyone can polish metal, but few can do it correctly without rounding sharp corners or ruining engraving. Some people apprentice for years to become proficient at polishing.

IMO, send it off to be polished. Kahr offers a polishing service. And, of course, there are many other, such as Customized Creations (http://www.customizedcreationz.com/).

One of our members polished his slide for a project... over a year ago, then he was trying to sell the slide alone. I don't know whatever came of that. I don't remember his name, either, but maybe he was from further south in Florida?

Found it:

Here's the start of his project to polish a PM9 slide:

I got confused because he did a P9 first(?) or as well, and was going to do a .40, too.

UH-O. I guess I'm one of those twitts. I bought mk mk40 new for $135 less than the store wanted because it had some light scratches that I pointed out to them plus everyone wants poly. I polished the frame and slide with Flitz liquid, cotton makeup squares and cotton cloths. I spent so many hours doing it I lost track. Its not for everyone but it came out real nice and I have gotten favorable comments on it at the range. I would never sell this gun ever not just because of the work I put in it but also because it functions flawlessly and is fitted so well. I also have a mk9 which I am leaving factory finish. For me the slide was the easiest part to do. BTW total $ spent was $18 for the whole gun.

Question for your question. Why not just drop Kahr an e-mail and ask them?
Jay normally replies to e-mail from customers in less than 24 hrs.

As others have said, polishing is trulay an art. I tried it once and realized very quickly that i need lots of practice. It does not come naturally to me. Then again, it depends on what you are polishing. Most anyone can take a slide on a buffing wheel and make it nice and shiny. The trick is to not lose the edges....

Picking up a spare slide to practice is not a bad idea. Then again, you could try the kerby9mm method and do a hand polish with Flitz. You will get good results and have easier control over the edges but it will take you a long long time!

I say give it a try! Expirementing is good! Good luck!

Hey, if you melt the edges and corners a bit, so what? Then you have not only polished it but did a carry melt as well! :D

Of course, you could be lazy and do like I did - buy it already polished! :D
