After a day of falling in love with my new (to me) little T9, the range officer at the local store told me to check out another Kahr in the .45acp case.

The store owner had taken in a TP45 in trade and it was practically flawless. Since I had just bought the T9 from him, he cut me a nice deal without even having to haggle.

So, the TP45 came home with me right then! Yippee!

Naw, I mean you. I'd be a bloody pulp if I came home with 2 new toys in a couple days. Wouldn't be able to recognize me.

I got a T9 in December and just bought a tp45 this week. Shot 150 rounds though the TP45 with of 230 fmj...no issues, shot great. My fist .45 ACP and the recoil was easy as cake. When I switched back to my T9 with 124gr ammo...it was like butter. I think having a .45acp will help me improve with the 9mm... because my last group at 7 yards with the T9 was ridiculous - best ever and pretty much one big ragged hole. I just need to get better with the tp45 because it too is more accurate than I.

By the way...what Holster is that?

Kudos on the new TP45....that thing is great.

So far, I am getting better groups with the TP45 than with the T9! Both of these calibers are new to me as my only other handguns have been Glock model 22s (.40S&W).

The holster is a N82 Tactical (http://www.n82tactical.com/) (right hand full size slim). I have a larger one for the Glock and have been using it for two years.

LOL! I'm betting he's single. ;)

DK, both of those guns are Sweet! And that N82 holster makes carrying either one a pleasure, doesn't it?

My solution to this is pretty simple: My wife & I each have our own bank account; we agree on who is responsible for each of joint expenses; and we are each entitled to do what we want with any leftovers that each of us has. Works pretty well, because I don't have to see the cost of some of the crazy things she spends money on (you don't want to know!), and I do not have to get permission for or justify any of the things I buy (including an occasional gun).

When we were first married we had one joint bank account, and it created nothing but problems when she thought that I was spending "her" money, and vice-versa. At first she hated the idea of getting separate accounts, but now it would be divorce if I forced her to give up her own account and go back to the old way. My wife has her own job which makes this work well, but even during periods where she didn't work, I would put monthly "allowance" money into her account so she always had some of her own money that she didn't need my permission to spend.

I've been married to the same woman for over 30 years, by the way.

Yes, the N82 holsters are awesome -- especially when it's hot because the suede backing keeps me cool and keeps the sweat off of the hardware. ;)

Sorry to dig up an older thread, but the quoted post is important advise for buying guns. I've been with the same woman for 12 years, we work on the same separate bank account structure and it works great. We split up the bills and the remainder is discussed but not scrutinized. We do discuss common savings goals and long term planning, but there is no commingling of funds. It means I can go buy a gun or two without getting questioned (doesn't hurt that she is also a shooter). Somehow I lucked out and she is a saver, her expendatures are generally small.

I'm old school. Before kids she worked. After kids she didn't work. Her job was the kids. When the kids got into school she sometimes found part time jobs but would always be home when they got home. The last one a senior this year is no different.
Never done day care.

I told her she would never have to work again if she didn't want to. She works hard enough taking care of me. My job is to find the money.

Ironically today is her very first day working, guess where? With me at the PD. Part time for now. We need the help, just hope they don't waste her like they have all the others.
Actually she has 4 jobs now really. Making fishing lures, (I help) working for a catering outfit that does weddings, the PD and me.

Apologies in advance to all my cyber wives but if it were up to me there would be no woman in the work place and a lot of decent well brought up kids and very poor profit in the day care business.

I'm going down for saying that, I just know it. But I love you all, you gotta know that, even though we've never met of course.

You won't get any grief from me, Bawanna. I believe it was no accident that He made women the way they are: more compassionate and more nurturing than men.

I'm very lucky. We've been married 26 years with one checking account. All of her checks and my checks go there. We both know our finanacial situation. Within that situation, if either of us wants something, it is bought. I fi say I'm thinking about a new gun and haven't bought it in a morth or so, she'll ask why I don't have it yet. I 've got a real winner.

This is how we are pretty much except I don't know our financial situation which is hopefully better than what she says it is.
I never say no when she wants to buy something. I'm a firm believer in if you want something, get it. Right now I got a severe case of 1903 Springfield fever, thanks to Mr. DK Matthews. I gotta quit chatting with that guy. I/We found one, all I need now is the loot. Same old story.

We've been hitched 28? years (man should know that) and engaged 13 before that so it's apparently working.

My son just texted and wanted to know if mom had killed anyone yet, (being her first day at the PD). Told him the day ain't over yet.

Yup, first day today. They had a part time position for like 8 months. I suspect at the end of that they will negotiate for more hours or full time. She's good worker, if she can survive the office politics and BS.

The chiefs daughter applied too. They told my wife she didn't meet the matrix? for an interview, then called back and said they were interviewing everyone. I'm shocked she got it over the chiefs daughter. She must not have wanted to work with the weather getting nice.

I told the wife I'd let her keep 10% of everything she makes. I got a .......whatever.

Hey, I take full responsibility for my own insanity. Last I checked, though, it wasn't catching! :D

Working on this one to "resurrect" it from having been sporterized: 1932 Springfield 1903 rifle.

I don't intend to keep 'em all. I'm planning on doing enough horse tradin' to have a couple of each model of US military rifles for my boys. I feel like I've already got a couple of good examples of M1 Garands and I'm working on the Model 1903's. I guess I'll work on the M1 Carbines or the P17's next.

That's my story and I'm stickin' to it!

Bawanna

Oh I think it's catching all right. That's a darn nice pile of 03's there for sure.

When you start on the M1 Carbines I got a beauty I'll share a picture of.

I call if my duffel bag carbine. Quality Hardware and Machine. Pristine.

I so want an 03A3, and a Garand, maybe a carbine too. I'll stop before I say something untoward.

jlottmc -- if you're serious about wanting an '03-A3, there are plenty of them out there -- LOTS more than the ladder sight Model 1903. Between gunauction.com, gunbroker.com and gunsamerica.com, there are probably 50 to 100 '03-A3 rifles up for sale right now. Pawn shops and gun shows are better, because you get to see it up close and personal before you part with your cash. Good luck!

Right now the time and money thing come into play. I have zero time to really search for a good deal with the police academy, and then the bankroll for all of this is a little tight right now. I have now doubt whatsoever that I will own one, but likely it will wait until I get picked up by a department. Just one of those holding pattern things right now.

I'm not a family man, and we actively plan not to have a family. My wife is a working woman with her own salary (larger than mine) so our separate account strategy works, it isn't the same for those with a stay at home parent. I certainly won't disagree with your practice with the wife and your family, nor your thoughts on women parents in the workplace. I'm glad to see you value your wife's contribution, several of my peers talk down about their wives for taking time to raise the kids. I wish more parents were dedicated to family first instead of the relentless pursuit of material possessions. My mom was stay at home until I was in 3rd grade, then went back to teaching.
