I have a question for KT members. I have a Glock 26 and Kahr cm9 which I carry in about a 60/40 split between the CM9/g26. I find both to be a bit on the large size for pocket carry. I was looking to add A .380 to serve as a BUG and primary carry when discretion is a big concern.
I want to have a slide lock on the last round which eliminates the Kel Tec, Ruger, Hellcat, and Diamondback.
I am choosing between the S&W bg 380, Kahr p380(The price is a bit high for my liking) and Taurus TCP.
Does any one have any experience with these pistols and is the size difference when carried in the pocket noticeable over the CM9?
Thanks All

I own the P380 and the PM9 and I NEVER carry my P380. My PM9 rides in my front jeans pocket with ease. IT AINT A BIT LARGE FOR POCKET CARRY. Ur surce IMO sacrificing firepower of 9mm over a 380 to get a tad bit smallerand certainly a ore touch/finicky gun compared to the cm9 which u have. apples and oragnes between teh G26 and your cm9 to.

I have to disagree with Jocko, as the PM9 is not a good pocket gun for me. It prints too much and is too obvious. In fact, I find a snub nose .38 less noticeable due to it's curved shape. It looks like a wallet and keys, where the PM9 has an obvious "gun" print. A shrouded 38 is a heck of a lot easier to draw from a tight pocket, too.
I can't comment on the guns you listed, but think you'd be well served owning a .380. They're handy when you need ultra concealment. You might want to start with the Taurus or S&W and upgrade to a Kahr later if you find that you carry it a lot. Good luck.

I haven't shoved a PM9 in my pocket, but I have seen the size difference and it's quite noticeable. If I could get a PM9 in my pocket, I'm not sure I could it out. The P380 seems much smaller.

I have those and larger CCW pistols, but I don't like pocket carry. I prefer IWB... about 4 o'clock for a draw-able carry. I think pocket carry is crazy... sitting or seat-belted... with tight jeans... I want to be able to draw quickly without looking weird... hand in pocket.
I DID TRY pocket carry... bought a pocket holster and tried my P380 and the PM9... like having a brick in my shorts pocket... not for me! YMMV.
I sold the holster immediately at our next garage sale... for only a dollar plus tax loss.
Get a decent IWB holster and wear untucked shirts as I do... the year around... and shorts... FLORIDA!
JMHO and YMMV.

I carry a BG 380 front pocket style everyday. It's a good little gun and is quite comforting right where it sits. I practice with this method of carry and have no problems drawing and shooting from a standing or sitting position. I do not have a PM9 to compare, but have also pocket carried a
J-frame with no problems. Large pockets help, Duluth Trading Co. makes some great jeans with large front pockets.

I pocket carry the CM9 most of the time. Summer time with light clothes, I carry a Taurus TCP in my pocket. I have had no problems with the TCP, but just like every other brand, you only hear about the bad. I did have a magazine problem with the TCP and Taurus customer service fixed me right up. They do have a lifetime warranty. The Taurus is a little snappy to shoot, but it is accurate.

I agree with jocko [which of course now ruins my reputation:)]. I'm not a big guy (5'10" 160) and can say without exaggeration that my PM9 has easily replaced 80% + of my .380 pocket carry. The PM9 has also replaced a good deal of my Glock 26 (AIWB) carry.
I have both a P380 and CM9. With the right jeans, the CM9 isn't bad to carry. I never forget it's there though and it's pretty slow to get out. The P380 goes in and it's easy to forget its there, it comes out easier also. For me there is a big difference in the two for pocket carry. I shoot steel plates occasionally with both, it's pretty obvious that you give up a lot with the .380. Plates that go down with easily with a 9mm, .38, .45 etc. often only rock when hit by a .380
I can see the G26 being too big, but the CM9 is too big for pocket carry?

The only pockets in which I can pocket my G26 are those of my cargo pants and shorts. I'm talking about the front slash pockets [the cargo pockets are for hand grenades]. My PM9 can swim in those slash pockets and my .380 gets lost in them for two weeks.

For people with small legs, and people like me who wear Wrangler jeans (small, short pockets), the CM9 is a little large. It goes in OK, out with a little more difficulty, doesn't print much standing up, but makes a big lump sitting down. Plus, don't try to draw it sitting down. It works for some people, not as well for others. Frankly, I think the P380 is the right gun for pocket carry.

My FFL carries the S&W and likes it. IMHO, I wouldn't want to own any in your list(s). You left off the best .380, a Sig P238. A CM9 IWB is a better option if you don't like a thumb safety.

I have experience with the elsiepee, but I am not fond of the .380 cartridge. The gun was totally reliable, and fit easily in my front pocket without printing to bad, I think the printing deal is way over discussed since people rarely look for bulges and what not in your clothes. I guess it depends on your state, my state is open carry for the most part, except in some cities. As long as your gun is covered, then people don't seen to care what that bulge is. They have those huge cell phones and all kinds of MP3 players that bulge out under T-shirts and no one gives them a 2nd thought. I think of the 3 you've mentioned, the P380, if it's recent vintage, would get my vote. I know some of the earlier P380's seemed to have a lot of problems, but I believe they have the kinks worked out now. I have no problems with Taurus revolvers, but never have been sold on their semi's. I hear it's a fine gun but shot one. My LGS dealer says he sells quite a few, and they seem to work pretty well.

you might want to try the sig 238 or the new p938 $800 though.

To get back to your original question, I can tell you that my daughter has a Taurus TPC 380 (the little pink-colored gun). We went to the range today to shoot. I have been with her to the range on several occasions, and every time, including today, she has had multiple FTEs. The gun has 400+ round through it, so it ought to be broken in. I'm concerned about the gun's failures, and I am wondering if I need to talk to her about getting a different gun; one that she can depend on.
I have several friends who are considering getting rid of their Ruger 380s. They, too, had experienced FTEs, plus general discomfort with the gun.
This pretty much leaves the more expensive Kahr and Sig. I have shot the Sig 380, and it is a very sweet-shootin' piece. They are twice the cost of the Taurus, but I think you get what you pay for.
Hope this helps some.

I agree in the " you get what you pay for" statement. The Taurus seems very hit or miss. The lure of "the deal" is probably not worth the possibilty of going cheap only to buy twice
