How about a Newbie Sub-forum. Guys just aren't looking up stuff and General Discussion isn't the place for that. You could point out or list the Gun prep and lubrication, etc. AND,

This ought to be the first stop for information:

http://www.kahr.com/

Authoritative videos, downloadable manuals and answers to most questions... What's this chip missing from my left rail?? Can I shoot +P ammo?? What ammo should I use?? GOOD GRIEF!

That and link to the proper prep and lube stickies. Only problem is they seem not to be reading those (stickies) anyway. Call it the Kahr FAQ section. Might work, I'm guessing not, that would be WAY too easy.

What a dumb idea. What else do we have to talk about? Women, sex, and problems with the P380? What were you thinking, Wynn? :)

I've been frequenting XDTalk and they have a newbie section and a welcome newbie section and seemingly 100's and 100's of other sub-forums.

I just think that the newcomer section here ought to be labeled and stickied with good info for them. Some of the stuff is just too hidden... where do you start looking... just go on General Discussion and start asking 21 questions??

I'm not COMPLAINING, but it should be easier for the newbies to find stuff. I posted some of my ammo bookmarks, in case that might help someone get started. But this thing I'm typing on is a terrific search engine for finding just about anything, taking no more effort than typing the question out on this Forum.

but does really a newbie asking for information in the general discussion thread cause any harm. One can just over look it. I myself amvery guilty7 of now lookingup threads that I know are in the forum somewhere. It for me is justeasier toask the question that more than likely has been asked bef0re and it seems so many are very accomadating about helping me out. I mentionto every newbie the karh tech section and the two good sticky's. I know I have repeated that many times and so have others but some newbies and even oldies just never have read that thread and might not even if not directed to it. There are threads on this forum I never even venture into.

Many here don't know what we knbow about this jforum and where to direct them, let alone they themsel;ves finding it. I don't want a owner reading about the two good stickys after he has sent his gun back for issues and now just finding it to read. Just sayin.

If it were the first thing(s) they saw, it might help... as I said, looking at the forums... all the way down to the last item, there's nothing that stands out and General Discussion is the first thing, so many don't get farther than that.

I kind of think that questions are often times used as a way of introduction and to initiate a conversation. Perhaps a introduction thread with links to some of the stickies would help.
I know often times there was a thread about something and I do the search and come up blank too. Gotta get the search works right sometimes.

When the site's software was updated/changed over a year ago, all of my bookmarks gave "404" errors and it became hard to go back and find old, but useful posts and info.

I think we need a NEWBIE Sub-forum at the top of the page, though, because we just don't have anything that attracts them like that would. "For Newbies" Hey! That's me!

I would rather be "chewing the fat", exchanging jokes, looking at gun porn, or discussing "unusual" problems and fixes. Maybe we could have an "Oldtimers" sub-forum where you have to have 100 or more posts. :D

XDTalk requires 250 posts to join the Politics discussion!! That definitely discourages newbies and transient "rabble rousers" from jumping in! INCLUDING ME!

I'm looking forward to joining the "5K" club soon. It would seem that I'm the 2nd place gabby one now, but Jocko got his post count reduced, and Bawanna will probably break 15,000 by then.:blah:

I don't understand why they haven't restored jocko's post count, even if they had to guess the number.

Oh, well that's cool. I sure like not having to try and keep my PMs under 50.

A lot of people could benefit by reading things that they are flat out embarrassed to ask seemingly more experienced people in the first place. Some people don't have an issue asking and for others the internet is a scary place because new people on a forum quite often get scoffed at as if their question was really stupid. Some forums worse than others with that stuff but it does happen.

With a "Newbie" section, they could check it out first and there would be links to the Kahr F.A.Q.'s, the VIDEOS, and the downloadable manual, if they didn't get one with their pistol.

We use the General Discussion for a lot of stuff and with a Newbie Section, what they need would be easier to find.

We don't have a Politics Section, just recently got a Non-Kahr/Non-Kahr-related gun section, and there are many other things or subjects that could use its own sub-forum. There's plenty of "room" to grow, I think!
