Hi all!
I had been eying the Kahr CM9 ever since my PF-9 started having issues (which was about a month after I bought it). After plenty of feeding issues, a bent slide, and lastly the take down pin backing out on me while shooting it, I decided it was time for an upgrade. After I got the PF-9 repaired by Kel Tec (awesome customer service btw) and had 50 or so rounds through it, I sold it. That same day I got a call from my local pawn shop saying they had just got my CM9 in. I had ordered it from Bud's Gun Shop on Wednesday and had it Friday, good job bud's! Believe it or not I had NEVER even seen let alone handled one before I bought it. Well, I'm pleased to say that I am VERY happy with my new CM9! As soon as I opened the box and held it for the first time I could instantly see and feel the quality difference between it and the PF-9. After I did the initial pre fire break in as was recommended by this site, I headed outside to put some lead down range. That evening I ran 50 rounds of my 115gr coated lead flat point plinking ammo through it without a single issue. This past weekend I ran another 170 rounds through it and had one premature slide lock and one failure to feed. The failure to feed was due to a round not being crimped correctly, and the slide lock I believe may have been from my friend's grip on the gun. I ran another 100+ rounds through it after he had that happen and it never did it again. I noticed that the follower was slightly hanging up on the magazine catch so I lightly sanded it down, which was also recommended here.
Other than the superior build quality, the main thing I noticed about this gun is that it's actually FUN to shoot! The trigger on the PF-9 would often pinch my finger, was too long and gritty, and my hand would start to hurt after shooting just a few mags through it. The CM9 is completly the opposite. The trigger itself feels nice and smooth with no pinching, the pull is smooth and consistent, and it's comfortable enough that I didn't want to stop shooting it!
All in all if I had been able to handle the PF-9 and the CM9 at the same time I would have never known how nice Kel Tec's CS is lol.
