I grabbed a used CW40 last Friday at one of the local guns shops. I really went in to look at a 9mm because of the less expensive ammo, but this CW40 caught my eye. I have several friends who swear by their Kahrs, so I thought that I would give it a try. I took it, along with my S&W M&P 9mm, out to the range today. I thought that I would see how the CW40 shot, and the first round I shot went right through the bulls-eye. I have read threads about the "snap" that the CW40 has, but it was much less than many of the pocket pistols that I have had in the past. I loved the way the gun shot! I have also read threads about the need for a Hogue grip, but the gun felt very nice in my hand. It has enough mass to reduce the recoil, and is compact enough to fit nicely in my car's center console.

Right after I bought the gun I wondered if I had made a mistake, but after today's range experience, I am thrilled to have the gun. I rarely find myself in situations where I have to physically carry my gun, but instead prefer to have it available in the car. I see this as fitting the bill very nicely!

Hi Rufus, Welcome to Kahr Talk....I'm glad you are shooting your CW40 so good and already liking it...I bought a slightly used PM40 with night sights and the black DLC coating and love the thing...I was in my local shop really looking to buy a Ruger LCP but they were out so the guy pulled this one out and offered it for $350.00 out the door so I jumped all over it....

The gun was bought by a fellow for his wife as a purse gun but she had never fired a pistol before and the .40 was WAY too much gun so the husband traded it in and got the last LCP in the shop that I went in to buy...Must have been karma I suppose...

Mine also rides in my truck console most of the time but I have a CCW permit and pocket carry in a Uncle Mikes nylon holster when I go out in public where its legal to do so...Some folks say a PM9 or 40 is too large for pocket carry but I don't have any problems at all and I'm not a big guy 5'11" 175 lbs...The gun prints some but I really don't care as I don't go around looking at other mens pockets and if anyone but a Police Officer asks me whats in my pocket I would tell them to get lost its none of your forkin business!!!

I also bought a S&W M&P .40 to go along with the Kahr and that is a really nice dependable accurate weapon and it ain't a "Glock"...:p...My last Kahr was a CW40 and I liked it but it was too big to pocket carry which was what I wanted the gun for but it was a good shooting pistol...My current PM40 will shoot anything put through it so far with out any jams of any kind....I don't shoot it all that great but can keep it on a silhouette target center mass at 7 yards so thats good enough for me...

I found I shoot it better if I grip it pretty tight and use more trigger finger like up to the first joint since it's so small...Most range instructors tell you to use the tip pad of your index finger on the trigger like clicking a ball point pen button but with the CM/PM pistols thats almost impossible to do without screwing up your grip....

Anyway welcome to the best gun web site anywhere and glad you found us...Lots of good knowledgeable folks here always willing and able to answer questions or offer help and advise...Good luck and happy shooting!!!...:yo:

I got the M&D9 for a range gun. It shoot great, and I love the interchangeable grips. I, too, hit the bulls-eye frequently with this gun. The CW40 is the largest caliber gun that I have had, so it was an unknown to me. I have shot other 40s before, but I was very happy with the feel of the CW40. No FTEs at all, and worked like a charm!
