Hi I picked up my new CM9 yesterday from order at my dealer. I love this pistol so far. It is perfect and machined and polished very very well.

Came home and did the first time prep according to this post.

http://kahrtalk.com/showthread.php?t=1521

I took apart the magazine. The base plate seemed extreamly loose the first time. I cleaned it and put it back together. Lightly oiled the spring.

My issue is the mag base plate seems still extreamly loose. I can push it off without pressing the bottom button. It will slide right off with no effort.

Is this normal for some? Should I call Kahr and get a replacement or can I fix this myself?

Thanks.

I know a few people have tightened the crimped edges of the base plate. There's another thread that discusses hitting the dimple with a punch to deepen it. I can't find the thread links just now. Try searching for magazine base.

It mostly needs a little tweak to correct. I am sure others will chime in quickly with the exact fix.

Welcome to the Forum. You have got yourself a good pistol there. I have one with 700+ rounds through it and it has been flawless since the first time out.

The mag baseplate shouldn't be that loose. I haven't had any problem with mine, but you can do like Tinman said and make that dimple (button) on the bottom a little bigger with a punch if it's not sticking out enough. I personally wouldn't crimp the edges of the baseplae any more unless they just look like they are not crimped on the edges enough. You can maybe take out the mag spring and slide the baseplate back on and see if there is up and down play and if there is you might tweek it.

Either way when you figure out which one id out of spec I would call Kahr and ask for a replacement part. They should fix you up.

Either way when you figure out w

Good to be here. I owned a CW40 and sold it a month ago. When I drove away I knew I screwed up. So I started looking again. I decided on the CM9. Smaller and a 9mm. Perfect carry option.

I also own a LCP and the new S&W Bodyguard .38SP with the new Insight Laser. Also own a G27 and a G35.

Welcome to the CM9 Owners Club, Mike! :) A perfect little CC SD pistol, IMO. And it just gets better with rounds fired. Jocko can attest to that with over 32,000 through his PM9. Mine is getting smoother in every way, even the trigger though I don't know how it could get any better!

Welcome to KahrTalk.

You've got a fine gun. It is to bad you've got that mag issue but with a call to Kahr and a little patience you'll have her up and running.

I emailed Kahr last night and got a reply from Jay this morning. He is shipping me a new mag.

Also he looked up the date for my CM9. It was made January 2012

Great Customer Service !

My mag baseplate was loose since I got gun a month ago. Tried the punch fix but still loose, so emailed Kahr & Jay emailed back very fast. They will be sending me a replacement & return postage for the faulty mag. CS seems to be top notch at Kahr.

Just stay away from the 7-round magazines. Many folks reporting issues with those in the CM9. But, Kahr was happy to send me a 6-rounder to replace my 7rd mag that didn't work out.
