Just picked up a PM40 a couple of days ago. Initially had a problem with the slide locking back every shot and figured out it was the slide release spring bent out of place due to an improper assembly. Got that straigtened out and proceeded to run through about 70 rounds without any failures before the heel of my hand right at the lower part of the butt started getting a bit of a hotspot.
My question for the general populace is this: I am trying to figure out the age of my new (to me) pistol. It had minimal wear, except for the base of the recoil spring assembly looked a bit beat up. By this I mean the larger diameter tube that houses the inner spring and is contained by the outer spring. It is serial number JA33xx and does have about a half inch of bevel or taper on eithe side of the slide near the muzzle. The pictures on the website for the PM40 don't show this, but it looks a lot like the slide profile of the CM40 as shown on the kahr site.
Anyone know what year this one may have been produced?
Got the box, a 5 and 6 round mag and probably most if not all the paperwork. No trigger lock or fired casing. Did come with the tru dot night sights that are still very bright.
Other than a spare recoil spring assembly, maybe a couple of magazine followers (possibly if that is an issue for my vintage pistol), are there any parts that might be prudent to stock as a spare? Thinking about getting a slide release spring since I did have to bend this one back to something resembling its correct shape.
A couple more 5 round mags and a Crossbreed minituck are also on the longer term list.
