I'm pretty new to Kahrs, but I really want to get a cm9. Is there anything I should know to avoid or be conscious of before buying one? Are there older models with known problems or certain sites that are unreliable? What can I reasonably expect to pay for new or used? Thanks.

CM9 is a new model and I have not heard of any "bad runs" or version issues like the P380s had. AFAIK, a CM9 is a CM9 is a CM9, and it won't really matter where you get it, as long as you play it safe and get it NEW at a well established LGS or website (BudsGunShop, CheaperThanDirt, etc).

Some people have had issues with theirs, of course - there are always some bad units, but overall it's a good model. Just make sure you prep it properly before going to the range (http://kahrtalk.com/showthread.php?t=1521) and you'll be all smiles.

First of all welcome to the forum wreckleague. I think you made a fine choice in a handgun. The CM9 has a pretty positive reputation here, with very few complaints.
Grabagun has them listed at 383.72 shipped. They seem to have a lot of favorable reviews. http://grabagun.com/kahr-cm9-9mm-3-msts-poly-1-mag.html I found this at: http://www.google.com/products/catalog?hl=en&gs_nf=1&cp=10&gs_id=1i&xhr=t&q=kahr+cm9+for+sale&gs_upl=&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_qf.,cf.osb&biw=1203&bih=733&wrapid=tljp1328317743301018&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=shop&cid=1602373617409282213&os=sellers&sa=X&ei=1ctOT8qbFZCFsALZx8wB&sqi=2&ved=0CEAQ_QgwAA#scoring=tp

Thanks, sounds like I cant go wrong. I noticed many sites are out of stock in the 7 round mags. I found a deal for one for 420 shipped (plus FFL) including an extra 7 round mag. This seems like a good deal to me, thoughts?

Stay away from the 7-round magazines! Many folks reporting issues with those in the CM9 (myself included).
But, Kahr will happily replace your 7-round magazine with a 6-rounder if it doesn't work well for you. You just have to contact them and ask for a 6-rounder instead.

There is some speculation that the 7rd magazine gets shifted by your finger pressure on it, causing the failures. Whatever the reason, they seem prone to nose dives.

I'll second this. My two 7 round mags were nothing but trouble. I finally got them working right, but it took a lot of sanding on the follower. Some here have 7 rounders that work fine, but it seems from what I've read that the most problems are with the 7's.

I over-paid a bitfor my CM9, $449 at Cabela's; but I had a $525 credit... so it went home with me. I have purchased from Buds before. Good prices, fast shipping, troublefree ordering process. If needed you can get credit through them or do a layaway.

I bought a CM9 (Blemish) from Grabagun for $347 + $5.99 S&H = $353 and no sales tax and you will have trouble trying to find what the blemish is. I think mine could have been a veeerrrryyy small nick on the end of the slide.(?) That was the only thing that I could find. These are blemished not refurbished so it is only a micro cosmetic thing. Find a Blemished one and save some money!

I got mine on express police supply, good price and good turnaround time. I used gun genie but i think there are other sources for FTL dealers/fees

Another vote for avoiding the 7 round mags like the plague. I had to send mine back to be swapped with a 6er. In fact, I just got it back tonight.

I just picked on up today from a gun dealer in baton rouge louisiana for 399 plus tax.... Can't complain... 433 otd, and I wasn't even planning to buy anything. If this gun works out for me, I plan to sell my kel tec pf9 that recoils way too much even though I've been carrying it for the past 2 years with plenty of flawless rounds through it.

Mine is a blem and you'd be hard pressed to find the blemish.

I had a few problems with my CM9 (fte, ftl) in the firs 50 rounds and a couple in the next 50 and none after the recommended 200 shot break-in period. Follow the prep guide, lub it, rack the slide a few hundred times, field strip it again and look for anything out of the ordinary wear (you may see some small wear on the plastic guide rails), lube the slide again. I found that the S&B ammo which was my 2nd hundred shots worked much better, probably due to the increased velocity.

Sellier & Bellot : 9mm 115 GR FMJ Muzzle Velocity : 1280 fps
Federal Range & Target : 9mm 115 GR FMJ Muzzle Velocity : 1180 fps
PMC Bronze : 9mm 115 GR FMJ Muzzle Velocity : 1150 fps
PRVI Partisan : 9mm 115 GR FMJ Muzzle Velocity : 1148 fps

After the S&B, Magtech was almost as accurate and with no problems, but I don't know the velocity.
For defense loads, Gold Dot Short Barrel & Critical Defense worked very well.

Good luck.
