This may be a little strange posting this on KahrTalk, but I just gotta say it...First off,I own a CM9 and a CW45,which are my two carry /go to guns...However,my wife has always carried an S&W 642...I've tried to get her a Kahr, but she just can't seem to rack the slides with enough confidence as she is not at all a big girl..She had shot and liked a friends Ruger LC9,so we went out and she picked one up yesterday..Anyway,we got it home and I proceeded to do the famous Kahr prep and lube on it as I do to any new firearm from now on...We took it to the range first thing this morning and put close to 300 flawless rounds thru it...About 225 FMJ's and close to 60 JHP's..I've read where a few LC9's have some issues during break in but I'll swear that sucker ran right due to the Kahr prep and lube..Thanks again to Jocko and Bawanna, two of the most valuable resources on this great forum...

Joe d,
I own a LC9 and a CM9, went to the range and put 100 rounds thru, no issues. Took my CM9, and put 125 rounds thru, and have some issues. Going back to the range after some cleaning and lube, and shoot some more and see how it's work, it's going to be my edc for the summer, for now.

I have 1 miss fire and 2 jams (ejection), during my first 50 rounds, after that, no more issues. I have clean and lube my gun, and is ready to continue with the break in period. On duty today, but tomorrow I'm mounting the Crimson Trace and heading to the range.

Ive been wondering something about lube during break in. I wonder if we wouldn't be better off to use a minimal amount of lube and muscle through it. The idea is to help the parts wear together faster.

I'm kind of glad the LC9 wasn't around when I bought my PM9. If it had been that is probably what I would have wound up with. Good guns but I REALLY like my Kahr.

That sounds about right. You should have no problems after the first hundred rounds or so and a good cleaning. Shoot it and it get's better every time.

I typically get all my new guns a Brazilian Wax before breakin.

I was wondering just how that works. Don't know if I want to try it or not.

Yeah, I imagine you would have to muscle through it if you used - your - pubes and especially if your pubes were still attached.

Someone else's typos can bring the worse out in us ;)

I treated mine like any other new pistol. I field stripped, cleaned, lubed, and fired it. Over 200 rounds with 0 issues.

Oops! That was supposed to be lube. Damn kindle autocorrect! At least I gave everyone a good laugh.

On facebook the other day I typed Ruger and it got corrected - to Kruger.

Just be careful if you use a Smartcarry.

The reason I posted about too much lube was that I have read that, to get a Kahr to run right, you need to use enough oil to fill the Exxon Valdez (before it hit the rock). Personally I think that the better approach is to use minimal lube to get it to wear properly in order to break in. When I got my Kahr I oiled it but not a whole lot - some on the slide rails, a drop on the barrel lug and a drop in the trigger group. Had a few issues in the first 100 rounds (specifically two cases of the slide locking open with rounds in the mag) but no issues after that.

More recently I shot my Kahr after about 2 months of neglect (ie not oiling it) the weekend before last. I had not even oiled it and it ran fine. No problems at all.

b. s. on the running really wet... oil will run, I prefer TW25 grease on the friction parts where metal to metal make contact. i. e. inside the slide rails. Kahr lubechart is very good reference.
