A Japanese business man came from Osaka to Chicago, to personally arrange for some important imports of his product. While in Chicago, he found it necessary to exchange some Japanese Yen for US Dollars.

So, at the advise of his business associate in the US, he went to the local large bank that offered exchanges. There he was able to get one hundred dollars for 8100 yen.

Several days later, he was in need of more US currency, so he returned to the bank, and found that it would cost 8800 yen to get one hundred dollars. He wasn't happy, but bought the hundred dollars with his yen.

As fate would have it, his transactions needed more time than he anticipated, and he was in need of more US cash again a few more days later. Back at the exchange bank, he was informed that one hundred dollars would cost him 9100 yen.

He was not pleased. So he asked the exchange teller why only a week ago, the exchange rate was 8100 yen per hundred dollars, but now it was a full thousand yen more. The teller shrugged his shoulders and said "hey, fluctuations" in his thick Chicago brogue, to which the businessman replied "fluctuyankees too!"
