While I have been quite impressed with my new K9, these mags are a disappointment. Well the mag is ok I guess, but these base plates a garbage. The gun itself is a work of art, what were they thinking when they came up with the magazines? Beautiful, heavy construction, nice lines, operates and shoots wonderfully, but lets include Walmart quality magazines...

I have to agree about the crappy, thin metal baseplates on my newest CM9 magazines. The mag tubes, springs and followers are adequate, but the baseplates leave a lot to be desired in both looks and finger comfort.

I am referring to the low quality plastic base plates. It has the look and feel of a very cheap plastic toy, manufactured prior to higher quality plastics becoming available.

I'll spice it up: and the fugly gap, as if is designed to pinch pinkies. :D

But somehow, they just conceal good and shoot straight....

I guess that some people are just never satisfied.

That's complacency. We should never satisfy, coz that's how technology could advance.

I very am satisfied with the gun, I was making an observation more than anything. Obvious care was taken to use high quality material while engineering the pistol, I found it odd that the mag base plates would be constructed of such low quality plastic. One would have make a concerted effort to actually obtain crappy plastic than what was used for the magazines. Its akin to putting vinyl seats in a BMW, just odd.

No, I have not broken any.

how do u determine what is low crappy plastic??? Just askiin for we have not seen one broken base plate, Have u dropped the magazine on cement and damaged it or what. U report none broken, \so I am just tryin to understand how u base your conclusion of crappy plastic.

Same way most of us can typically point out low quality metals simply by look and feel, or low grade leather, cheap wood etc... I did not do a gas chromatography/mass spectrometry analysis on a sample of the plastic if that's what you mean. Its just cheap plastic and it looks tacky.

I perceive that you may have been trained as a Chemist, as was I. Or maybe you just like to use fancy words. Either way, I'm good. :)

and I've owned more than a few Kel-Tec products.... and the latest Karh poly offerings are beginning to look oddly very similar

I prefer the metal base plates when they are available. I want the most concealable grip/base that I can get. With my P40, I bought or used the metal base plates from PM9's for the 6-round P40 mags. I tried adding a 1/8" O-rings to stop the pinching, but it was too tight so I used the 3/32 diameter O=rings with 15/16' inner diameter and they work okay. I hate the "flush-fitting" polymer base plates with the extra finger-rest-like "feature"... the ones for the K9 or PM45... and some of the CW models.

I'll swap plastic base plates for metal ones all day long. I even have some of the Pearce plates.
