I just picked up a Kahr CM9 and I am very happy with it but I am a little concerned about the frame. Looking at the pictures is this normal? The back of the frame actually sticks out a little bit.

Does it cycle, fire, and lock back properly?

What's with the white powdery/crusty looking gunkus? Or, is that just the camera flash reflecting on dust/lint?

Looking at the photos, I don't see your concern about frame bits sticking out. Maybe some red circles around the bit you're concerned about would be helpful, if you are familiar enough with image editing software to do that.

Microsoft Paint is installed on all Windows machines by default and can do the red circle.

My CW looks exactly the same as yours. I mentioned it when I sent it to Kahr for another reason, and they told me it was nothing to worry about. I haven't had any issues with it getting worse

no doubt these guns ain't finished the way we all would like them. but they are what they are. one can criticize and stomp on the ground but some things could be better. By and large, they are pretty well made guns, the k Seris is awesome and well finished and on par with any 1911 IMO. I personly never really put my PM9 under a magnifying glass. It works, it goes bang ever time, It is very small, It is extremely light. It is well made. it ain't a 10 on a scale of 10 for over all quality but that little fokker is in my pocket 24/7 and to me that is a 10 on a scale of 10..

Thanks for the input everyone. I feel a lot better now and I am not going to worry about it. The white crusty stuff is pocket lint.

My wife's CW45 is worse than that. Here's the thing, it shoots oh so well, making that a minor annoyance, but no worries, so I leave it alone.

That might be the new normal but I can tell you the back end of the frame on my 2009 pm9 doesn't look like it was chew fitted to the slide. It's not ragged like that and the inside corners are cut nice and square not rounded off like that. What's with the two dents in the slides back plate? It still might work flawlessly but that's a far cry from being a quality fit IMO.

My CM9 is no way near to that pic. Mine is not a perfect flush fit but durn near close to it. Also the key fit at the back of the frame to the slide are pretty good on mine. You do want some tolerance and a bit of slop can be good too in a dirty situation. Remember the 1911 vs Luger or more recently AK vs AR.
Never the less is shows the QC standards we are working with.

Where are the dents?

You do not see the two what looks like to be dents or nicks in the back panel of the slide. First and fourth cross cut up from the bottom.?http://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l174/pjw315/002-9.jpg

Honestly think I would need a magnifying glass to find that if I was holding the piece.

Wouldn't bother me a bit, personally.

Oh I agree that the least of the QC problems that I see , but we're not talking about cheap guns either.

CM9s really aren't expensive, but I agree about the QC issues.

Mine follows the contours of the slide cover much more closely, but yous isn't the worst that I've seen.

Can't look at mine to compare since it is at the factory being working on. Two more weeks maybe.

My PM9, bought last April, looked much nicer. The only three other poly framed guns I have look better than yours.

My personal, highly subjective, scale gives My PM9 a 9, My M&P 9 a 10, My Nano a 9 and my Taurus 22PLY a 9. I would rate yours, from the picture about a 5 or 6. It's just cosmetic but many believe this adds enjoyment and value.

My CW40 was like that. Took some light sanding and now its flush.

I wonder why there is so much inconsistency from injecting plastic in a mold. I honestly don't know so if someone does please feel free to give an explanation. I would hope that my new car just because it only cost 20grand and functioned that maybe the doors and fenders would line up.
