Hi all, I just ordered my first Kahr pistol. I am awaiting a CW45. I currently only own a sig and a glock. I know there is some negative threads out there about Kahr's but I really like the way it looks and feels in my hand. Especially for .45. I was hoping there were some owners with good things to say about this pistol. I know the internet is famous for bringing out the bad press on something. If anyone has any useful information or just good experiences I would love to hear them.
Thank You,

I like my CW45 very much. I did add the CT laserguard to it and believe that really improved it's abilities. My CW did have to go back to the factory once, due to the trigger not resetting after firing and was fixed and back in my hands in 7 days, great customer service. I may have to send it again to see why it won't feed from the 7 round mags, the 6 round mags are no problem at all. Glad I bought an extra 6 round mag when buying the 7 round mags. Need to remember to call Kahr and see when I can send the pistol and the 7 round mags in. I've tried everything I could think of to get them to work, I can't tell any difference between those and the 6 round mags when I insert them with the slide off, I don't know why they won't feed more than 2 maybe 3 at a time before taking a nose dive and jamming. I've had the springs out and checked them, they were installed correctly, So I guess I'll let Kahr have a look at it. Although I didn't buy the mags from Kahr, I believe they are Kahr factory mags due to the packaging they came in.
Anyway, I turst the CW45 enough that it is my main CC piece. the only other problem I had was shooting some +P rounds Golden Sabre 185 gr rounds, and a new recoil spring solved that. When using the 6 round mags it's been totally reliable. I currently am using 230gr Hydra-Shoks, and have half a box of the reduced recoil 165 gr to check out and see if I like them. I heard the Hydra Shoks open up at slower velocities than many other hollow points, which is why I use them in the 3.64 inch barrel CW. There are many popular loads for the CW, Gold Dot, Golden Sabre, Ranger, Hornady Critical Defense, Winchester PDX1, I usually go with Hyrda Shoks when I can find them, or the PDX1 which WalMart stocks at a reasonable price.
Anyway, welcome to the forum, and hope your CW45 gives you many years of trouble free service.

Thank you. If you don't mind me asking how long have you had your cw45?

read the articles on this site on how to properly prep and clean her. I went further and read the how to's on common problems and repairs for the polymer guns, in the tech forums. I applied every "fix" before I ever fired my new CW45 (almost a month old now).
I went to the range and put down 200rds of Winchester White Box 230gr without a single problem. Then I read the article on how to make flush 6rd mags out of Mec-Gar 1911 officer mags, and made three in no time flat. I went back to the range and shot another 2-300rds with them and the OEM mag, using reloads I bought online. Again - ZERO - problems.
I passed up on the Glock 36 and sig and M&P... and bucked the advice of the local gun shops telling me to avoid the Kahr - because it felt so damn good in my hand. I can't tell you happy I am with the Kahr. The stippling was harsh, so I cut a bicycle tube and put it on - fixed. Shooting it is a huge pleasure and it is very comfy and very accurate!! You'll love it.

I've had mine about two weeks now. I cleaned it, lubed it and took it to the range. 350 rounds with no issues. I made a couple of 1911 mags fit flush too(much cheaper than kahr mags.). The recoil is not bad at all.:yo:

When you guys clean and lube these guns are you using grease or just oil? Also have you ever tried ballistol as your cleaner and oil?

just oil, but I have never used anything but... so I can't comment on it being best or not.

I used to use Gun Butter, Militech, even WeaponShield as my favorite lubricants. Once I discovered Ballistol, everything else was second tier. Seriously Ballistol should just be called Jesus juice. It makes cleaning easier with extended use, and replaces the need for a separate cleaner/lubricant. It also creates a nice film, should you ever need to run a lubricant dry to avoid crud buildup.
I just soak a Q-Tip with the stuff and leave my entire barrel exterior with a thin coat. Also get the slide inside the barrel hood, muzzle opening, and give the recoil guide rod a thin layer. You could run them wet or dry with ballistol, but I prefer the added protection of wet lubricant. Also, avoid the firing pin channel and magazine. Finally, hit the front and rear metal frame rails with a drop along each (four points), and run the wet Q-Tip along the polymer rails (optional). Put everything back together, and make sure to put a drop on the slide stop pin where it rides in the barrel lug before final assembly. Done deal.
PS. The biggest benefit of running ballistol dry, IMO, is on the inside of the barrel. I run ballistol soaked patches, then fresh ones until they come out dry, and know there is still a good layer of lubricant. It becomes obvious next cleaning, as the fouling practically wipes right off. You will be scrubbing about half as much.

I just got mine for xmas from my wife, a cw45, I only have about 200 rounds through it, the only issues were having the mag drop out once on my freind, and we are pretty sure he bumped the mag release with his thumb. I had one light primer strike that failed to fire, I re loaded the round, and it fired, the primer was dimpled enough that I thought it was a bad round. other than those mine shoots well, and has cycled reliably. I really like the gun and am very happy with it.

put two rounds in and twist the magazine by hand and see if the follower is pushing on the mag release and in need of a cut job. Read the stickies on this.

I've had my CW45 about a year and a half, sorry it took so long to get back with you, didn't see your thread for awhile.
