Took my wife gun shopping today.
I got her set up with a friend at the counter and left her there to work through what she wanted and walked away to look at AR's.

They looked at revolvers first and none suited her. She held a Ruger SR9C and liked it. Held a Walther and an M&P9 and neither fit her hand. Then my buddy brought out a CW9. She held that and was in love. She likes it's light weight, the thinner grip, and she could even rack the slide pretty well. It's weird because she hates holding my CM9. She's not thrilled shooting it either.

So without any prompting from me or even any input from me, she chose a Kahr CW9. She wants to sleep on it to be sure but I am 99% certain we'll have a new CW9 by sometime next week.

I'm so proud of her!!

I think that's really cool. Sure wish my wife took interest enough to get her CT Pistol Permit and her own gun. Every once in awhile I ask and she says she going to do it but just never gets around to making the first move.

This has been a process. She's still somewhat weirded out about guns in general. She's been shooting several times with me and not totally onboard with carrying concealed yet. But I want her to be comfortable with the guns, effective when she shoots. If it's an at home gun, I am cool with that. Baby steps.

My daughter is moving away to school in the fall and she WILL have her LTCF and a carry piece. She's ok with it but she doesn't have 50something years of antigun indoctrination like her mom does.

I think that is great. I think that she will like the CW9 as it has a larger grip than your CM (and it is bigger than yours too :D)

Short story
Last week SHMBO comes into my home office carrying a Cabela's catalog. For some strange reason, she gets the woman's catalog from Cabela's. I don't think she has ever bought something from there and if so, it wasn't for me! Anyway, she shows me a picture of concealed carry purses and says she has never seen something like that. I told her that they have been out for quite a while and that a whole bunch of women are carrying concealed hand guns now. Told her that she needs to start carrying a pistol. Her reply? "If I did, I'd just shoot someone that pizzed me off" She would too!

We're fortunate enough to have a back yard range but she's yet to take advantage of even shooting my .22 revolver. I think when the guy I had my confrontation with gets close to finishing his prison (excuse me - "correction center") sentence it will motivate her to get her permit. I sure hope so anyways.

Congrats Costanza, any step forward is a good one. Here's to hoping the CM9 has a big brother next week!

My wife obviously doesn't have any problem with guns but she also really doesn't have a vested interest in them.
I was quite happy last year when after many false starts she actually applied for her CPL. Talked about it many times but she finally went and did it. Even a little more challenging since she's a permanent resident alien. (Swedish, not Martian).

She really had zero interest in auto's of her own accord, said she didn't have time to messing with playing with the slide and magazines and that junk, her words. Wanted a revolver.

She's had a Ruger SP101 22cal of her own for many years, I put some laser grips on it for her. Now she has the Smith 638 that we haven't had a chance to shoot yet but I'm hoping soon.

Baby steps.

Under certain circumstances I would be worried about a woman with hands that strong LOL

Tinmann are you going to get her to join the forum. We can always use another women on here. Especially one where her husband is already in here. Course I don't know if I want to give up my queen crown on that one.

Baby steps. Also not sure I can be as much of a ******** if my better half is watching every move. :D

Glad to hear it Tinman! We need more women shooters out there. Help her out when she gets it by making sure she's not limp wristing it when she shoots it. My CW40 was very sensitive to it during break in, often requiring a nudge with my thumb to return completely to battery, or even stovepiping and nose diving. Others shot the gun fine so I knew it was me and the range officer clued me in on what I was doing. I'd not heard the term much and wasn't sure what it meant, I think I thought it had something to do with sexual orientation.
I would think the CW9 would be even more sensitive to grip, since it has less powder to move the slide back, I have no idea, I know before I talked to the range officer. I used some self defense cartridges with more powder and they didn't cause as many problems, the extra powder made the slide go farther back so that my limp wristing wasn't such a problem. So that makes me think the CW9 would be more prone to the problem.
The only poly framed 9 i've shot is the M&P and that thing is very forgiving on how you hold it, almost like it had a metal frame. I've held it pretty loose and it keeps on going like a timex.

The CW9 is a great little gun. It is accurate and easy to conceal. A very good choice.

No trade-ins for me. Am still with the original model after 45 years, even though she doesn't like guns and has never fired one.

Congrats to the OP. Will she let you shoot her CW9 when it comes home?

She's shot mine. Dunno why she wouldn't. Although I am betting I get to do the recommended 500 hand racks. For sure I get to do the cleaning. Brake cleaner is hell on professionally done nails yanno.

Oh, don't I know it. I always try to make sure all my guns are spiffy and clean before I get my nails done. Just makes me cry when I time it wrong and ruin a 2 day old french manicure. Seems so wasteful yanno.
