I was thinking of having my slide Cerakoted since the slide is a bit....."Lackluster" I'll say, on my CM9, but what I want to know is, if I have this done, since the tolerances are so tight, do I risk affecting the operation of the pistol? Have any of you done this?

Tony.

I haven't done it (yet) but others here have done their cm9 with no reported issues. Thunder71 (I think it was him) had his done in black n has some pics of it floating around on here. Do a forum search for cerakote n it should turn up some results for ya.

No issues at all.

Had mine done:

It went back together a little roughly when I picked it up, didn't want to go fully into battery without a little push on the back. But that went away after the first trip to the range afterward. To take that one step further, I took some emery cloth and removed the coating from anywhere that slide action had begun to wear off - primarily the stripper rail.

I really like the all black look. Hard to resist sending mine off. But I also like having the Kahr a different color than all the black pistols between my buddies and I.

I almost had the whole thing done in Coyote Tan, but couldn't stomach spending $150 for a paint job on a $400 gun. The black serves a functional purpose, though and was just $75.

I have an air brush gun and have used dura coat in the past with good results on my Lcp and 2 pf9's. Cost roughly 20 bucks for enough to do dozens of guns.

I'm partial to K-Kote, aka GunKote from Kal-Guard (KGCoatings).

The stuff wears like iron... you gotta sand it off to get it off the metal. Very very durable and protective of rust. About to pull the trigger on OD green for my Springfield 45 receiver and one of the Browning HP receivers.

May I also suggest you de-horn, smooth, blend, etc... all sharp edges, as with any finish, those are the spots that wear first.

Don't mind the dust on the gun... I was still sleepin when I took these pics!

All the pics on the post made me take my new cw40 into my LGS to have it Duracoated. Will post some pics when I get it back.

Get anyone of the many colors offered. Doesn't have to be black. It can be pink if you want or how about desert tan?

LOL. Is that Tactical Orange? Not for me. However I might go for some Desert Tan frame with black slide. I hope to get an M&P9mm in the next couple paydays and I'd like to do it up like the Cabela's range kit scheme....Black slide, slide release, take down lever, and palm swell; and then what they call Dark Earth(Desert Tan) on the polymer frame.
