Picked up my new cw9 saturday. Started doing my prep and noticed on the back of the frame the part that stickes up the highest onthe rear left side is bent back so that it is not flush with the back of the slide. I took some pics of it but not sure how to post but I'll try to post a pic here.http://i678.photobucket.com/albums/vv145/cagoat/100_3203.jpg

Hmm...possibly a QC issue that does not seem to affect function...

...none the less a call to Kahr CS may be in order.

My 1 month old CW9 looks identical to yours. When I get my new Droid smartphone in the mail this week, I will take some pictures. My old smartphone just went **** up, unfortunately.

I noticed this too, being a perfectionist that I am, and concluded that it is a non-issue. I would be willing to bet that all the new CW9/P9 pistols rolling off the Kahr factory line look the same. Have they always been manufactured that way? Maybe, not sure. All I know is my CW9 has gone through about 500 rounds of various ammunition without a single hiccup.

My CW9 is just the same as yours. 400 rounds with no problems. I don't think it affects function at all.:yo:

most all look that way, nothing wrong. It is what it is. the thing to worry about is when the gun acts up. In ur case it hs not so shoot it like u stole it. Kahr is gonna tellu exactly what the members here are saying. ALL IS WELL.

thanks everyone that makes me feel a little better. Ive looked at other cw9's and none where like this. I really like this pistol but when I saw that it just made me think something wasn't right. They really should have better qualty control and not be letting things like this out.
I still really love this gun and cant wait to shoot it. My son is going to be getting his 1st HG and has been wanting a Glock 19 but after seeing this one now wants to get a CW9. I think that is a wise choice.
I guess this means I'll finish prepping it and see if it shoots as good as it feels, it just feels good in my hand.

The good is the gun functions properly. The bad is that Kahr will say all is well with your deformed frame. O WELL

Same thing happened to my CW45, doesn't effect function at all.

It's just molded plastic. Not much they can do with precision.

my new TP45 looks similar...it's fine - still an acceptable tolerance all things considered. enjoy the new gun...

First and foremost, I love my Kahr handguns and have had good experiences with Kahr customer service (for parts), never had to send a gun to them.

That said, my PM9 doesn't look like that, nor would I expect it to.

Just because it may not affect function, doesn't meant it's OK. If Kahr had a lifetime warranty like most other gun manufacturers I may let some things slide to see how they pan out, but 5 years is what you get. If you don't send it in now when it's new, they may play the blame game and say that it was from something you did - at least you have photos to prove otherwise.

I swear, some people here would accept a gun from Kahr if it came with no sights, an upside down feed ramp, backwards grip and a weld closing the end of a barrel... "that'll buff out".

Amen to that, Thunder71. That's probably why Kahr doesn't put more stringent quality control on their pistols, (specially the lower priced models) because we keep buying their products albeit all the issues.

Thunder 71, I have a great functioning fun to shoot and reliable gun for under $400 out the door. Maybe my expectations are to low, but at that price range expecting fit and finish to be perfect as well seems like asking a bit much. Just saying.:yo:

I guess the question in my mind is, "How could Kahr rework the fit in this area?"

Could that portion be heated and pressed into a closer fitting shape?

If it can't be adjusted do they have to just trash the frame assembly when it comes out of the mold? Might get expensive considering all the items embedded during molding, including the forward rails and the serial number plate. Certainly, they must have some QC inspection following the plastic molding process. I wonder what the failure rate is.

Thought I read somewhere that Kahr doesn't make their frames

I happen to notice that same exact thing on a few other CM9's that I looked at in the stores. Some didn't have that protusion and some did. I don't know if that is normal or not??

Well surely they have some variation between different molds? I figure they inspect them all and consider this to be within tolerance. I imagine that they could replace the molds creating this minor flaw but if that meant higher prices by 10% would that be worth it to you? Just a hypothetical to think about and comment on.
