Hello all, I have been lurking for a bit, just picked up my CM9 today from the dealer and noticed this:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v288/lowroad/gun%20pics/P1010188.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v288/lowroad/gun%20pics/P1010187.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v288/lowroad/gun%20pics/P1010186.jpg

I'm torn. I hate it, but am unsure if it's a thing to worry about or just cosmetic. I highly doubt this will change after a break in and/or clean and prep.

the barrel litteral touches and rubs on the bottom of the hole in the slide and leaved a good 1/16" at the top. Never seen that before.

So..shoot it, send it back, or shoot it see if anything else is wrong, and then send it back?

While I agree it's somewhat unsightly it really has to be that way to allow the barrel to tilt down in such a small package. All Kahrs are that way to some degree. There's really nothing to be done to make it better.

I try to focus my attention on the other end of the gun and let the BG or the range targets see the business end.

That looks normal to me. The barrel moves as you cycle thru rounds.

That's two for shut up and shoot it. I told myself a dozen times I wasn't going to be one of those guys who scrutinize the thing before ever having put a round downrange.

Mine looks identical n shoots like a dream! Now shut up n go shoot the thing like u stole it! :D (that's the cm9 owners symbol btw, cause that's all u will do once u shoot it)
If you've been lurkin for awhile u might have seen em already, but the prep n lube stickies under the tech section are a great starting point!

Welcome to KahrTalk.

What you show, the notch and the bulge freaked me out when I first saw them. All three are normal for the PM9 and I assume likewise for the CM9.

Ha! The notch I knew. Cleaned, lubed, and off to the range!

I neglected a meaningful welcome to the forum. I was trying to focus on not telling you to shut up. I never tell anyone to shut up until they have at least 25 post. I will slip in a casual pipe down, volumn decrease from time to time but never ever a shut up. Just ain't civilized.

Welcome!

Mine looks the same as well. Got around 400 rounds through it with no issues. I did a double take first time I noticed it lol.

Well, sorry to disappont you all, but... 250 rounds down range without a single hiccup. It slingshots, it eats HP, it is far more accurate than I am. Winner, winner chicken dinner.

The only complaint I have is that my widdle pinky got a bwister from the 6rd mag with pearce extension. Even my 7rd mag functioned flawlessly.

IMO, it looks pretty normal.
My PM9 looks very much like that and it shoots just fine.

My glock looks like thyat, I am pretty sure with a locked breech type gun that as u know when the slide is moving backwards the barrel is now cammin g downward, If there was not additional gap built in at the top of the slide opening, I would image the barrel would stick in the slide. So it is normal-- If it was a blowback it would look entirely different with equal spacing.

Bawanna tells me to shut up all the time, but it is by PM's and I have right now overf 100 of his shut up memo's to me. Have no clue as to what shut up means, so I just disregard them.

I'm stuck on band aids cause band aids stuck on me. I'm glad the amputation was cancelled. I'm putting you in for a Purple Heart.

There isn't a thing wrong with your gun. It was designed that way. Shoot it like you stole it. Welcome to the forum newbie.

My pm9 looks indentical to yours, that's how they all look.

Normal, they are designed this way to allow for barrel tilt.
P.S. Love the "At your face photo shoot", excuse teh pun.

250 rds.... what ammo were you using and did you shoot all 250 in a row? if so, did you clean the gun somewhere in the middle or go straight through? thanks!

^^^ this. It's just a slight relief cut as Jocko says for when the barrels tilts down. Perfectly normal for this type of design.

My CM9 looked like that too. The slide stuck back 4 of 6 rounds. This coming Tuesday 3/20 will be three weeks at the factory. Hope to get it back soon. Three weeks is a long time depending on what you are doing. :40:

250 rds.... what ammo were you using and did you shoot all 250 in a row? if so, did you clean the gun somewhere in the middle or go straight through? thanks!200 rounds of 124gr flatnose federal american eagle cheap stuff, 25 rounds of 115gr reloads with hornady critical defense bullets (these made quite a fireworks show and got some neat looks from the kid on the adjacent lane), and 25 rds of the 147gr +p bonded winchester ranger.

All in a row, one mag after the other, no additional oil or cleaning. I literally took it out of the box, stripped the slide, sprayed everything with non-chlorinated walmart supertech brake cleaner, then lightly coated everything with rem-oil, except I left the striker channel dry as recommended. Straight to the range.

My vote is to point it downrange then shut up and shoot it! :)

I would settle for a purple nurple.

That can be arranged, I suppose...

BTW, on the original question, lock the slide back and look at it, and you will see why that gap is there.

As Jocko and others have said, it is designed that way to
allow for barrel tilt. Look at it with the slide locked back and it is obvious why. Only other option is to bell out end of barrel some like the LCP or Keltec.

Guys, thanks, I get it. Please read where I shot it, it's fine. A couple replies telling me it's normal is good. It's just plain getting silly now.
