I ordered my NYPD trade K9 from AIMsurplus. They are pleasant enough to deal with, and pretty quick. Here's the thing. As im ordering (over the phone) I am presented with the option of a "pick of the litter" of sorts. For $10, they will pull out 5 guns, and visually pick the nicest of the 5 to send me. Really? So, you cant just do that for free? I mean, sell the nicest ones first? I dunno, I just found that to be a fairly annoying money grab. But of course, I spent the $10. Who knows if they actually picked a good one, but it made me feel better.

I picked the gun up today. Hmmm... This is the nicest one? I would hate to see the others. Maybe the other four didnt have slides, I dunno. This thing was nasty. Sorry, I just cant post pictures of the "before". It's an embarrassment and I just dont have it in me.

The grip screws were rusted, and the whole gun's finish appeared to be pitted and corroded a little bit. After I dropped an anvil on the slide release pin to remove it, I take it down. Wow. This thing is dirty. It took quite a while to clean it up, and its still nowhere near my standard (new, or better). I took a metal bristle brush on the dremel and polished the grip screws (worked really well. Held the screw in one of those heavy plastic clamps and buzzed it with the dremel.) I took a brass brush and oil and lightly brushed the entire gun. It took alot of the nasty junk off of the gun, but there are still a couple spots. It probably wouldnt bother 99% of the people out there, but im completely anal.

So I get it cleaned up, lubed, and hit the range.

 This thing shoots like a dream!! How is a gun THIS smooth? This is also (oddly enough) the first gun i've owned that did not have the 3 dot combat sights. Still, this thing is a tack driver. It feels great in my hand, shoots smooth, and is now my favorite gun to shoot.

The NYPD trigger is hardly noticeable. It's still a Kahr, and the trigger is great. Maybe a little longer than my PM9's, but its still really nice. I chose an NYPD trade for a few reasons. It's cheaper, and i'm a NY transplant. Spent my first 28 years in NY, so maybe im a little nostalgic. I'm a LEO in TN, and this is from a LEO in NY. Probably wierd, but I dig it.

Anyway, who really reads this stuff anyway... Here's a few pics. :photo: We all know what a K9 looks like, so a couple of the pics are close ups of the imperfections I was talking about. All in all, im happy.

I surely don't see anything to be ashamed of there. Looks fine. A little super fine sandpaper would clean up those slightly rough spots, might have to go over the whole thing and not sure I'd even bother.

Really great that it shoots so nice. I really like the steel frame Kahrs.

I guess I got lucky, My gun was cared for, like I care for them. Perfect!

Looks about like the one I got from them. Like my ex LEO Gunny said: Oh cop Gun? Fired once, dropped once, never cleaned.
Good luck with it. Steel Kahrs are outstanding weapons.

Picked up a K9 from them this morning since they're in my backyard. This one has plenty of crud and will need a good cleaning but is otherwise in excellent shape. I will replace the grips and grip screws and it should look as good as new. Very happy camper here!

I put one on layaway. It's out of state, so I haven't seen it yet. But if it shoots and looks as good as yours I'll be happy. Thanks for the pics.....
