I am now thinking of getting a PM40 after falling in love with my MK40. Is there any size differences beteen a PM9 and PM40 externally? I would prefer the 40 if it is same in overall size. I am not a fan of 9's, not saying they are bad, I just like "BIGGER IS BETTER" for me :D. My MK for me is to heavy for pocket carry, works great in a IWB holster, but I would also like a pocket version. Thoughts and feedback encouraged......:typing:

My PM9 has exceeding my expectations as far as being pocket-able. I'm not a big man (5'10", 160 lbs.) so even if the PM40 were a bit bigger it'd still work in most of my front pants pockets. Hope this helps if even a little.
Oh, I did however go with a Kydex pocket holster as the ones like the DeSantis Nemesis added to much thicness even though they work fine for my Kel-Tec .380.

I believe they are the same size. Having a K40 I don't think I'd have any interest in a PM40. Lots of guys love em but to me just to much buck. Magna Porting would be a must but I know that's not an issue to you as they all go there first thing to get in your toy box. I'd stick with the 9 or well really no other option. The PM45 is larger so if when the CM45 comes out I imagine it will be larger too.

If I recall correctly the grips on the MK 40 are fatter than the slide. (I don't have the MK, just the PM40) The PM 40 frame grip area is pretty much exactly as wide as the slide. The forearm area ahead of the trigger guard is slightly fatter than the slide.
The PM9 slide width is .90, the PM40 is .94 Length and height are pretty close to the same- but I think the 40 might be about .1 inch longer overall to allow for the slightly longer cartridge.
About a 5 or 6 ounce difference in total weight. My PM weighs 16.2 on my scale, Kahr says it should weigh 15.8 no magazine or ammo- but I do have the night sights and maybe they add a fraction of an ounce over stock. About 21.5 ounces fully loaded, Probably noticably more recoil from the PM.
My PM seems to have recoil comparable to my LCP ( a gun with little more than half the weight of the PM shooting a bullet that weights half as much at around the same velocity.... half the energy OR momentum either one) although I have yet to shoot them both back to back. Just going by I start to get a hotspot on the heel of my hand where the bottom of the grip hits my hand at around 100 rounds with either one. The LCP is a bit thinner and the somewhat shorter grip probably enhances the felt recoil, too.

Well it seems that the specs are pretty close on size and weight. I will have to go and actually hold them. Which ever one I get will get Magnaported and a set of Big Dot sights.
ChogersPM9!!! Buy this one please! Looks nice but.......
One of my local dealers says he has both in the $550 range [like new used]
I guess I will be checking them out.

The old theory of 45, versus 4o, versus 9, or 357, the bigger the better is a stretch in my opinion. Train, practice . . . and if necessary a 22 will do the job. Consider the accuracy (more than one shot) and the possible collateral damage of the "big" guns, and you should always come back to what works best in a potential bad situation. Got nothing to do with the caliber, rather the ability of the person holding the gun.

Well for me.....the fact that I had MANY 40 cal. spare mags for my MK40 and MUCH 40 cal. spare ammo on hand was the deciding factor. It didn't hurt that I got a LIKE NEW PM40 very reasonably priced. It is now off to Ahlman's for Magnaporting and some XS Big Dots. The MK and PM mags are the same. According to gun shop he sold gun new and after a week he got it back on trade for a rifle. I got it for $420.00

Wow, you got a good deal! Do the customizations and you're still within the price of a new one. I didn't see a mention of the OD Green and black Duracoat. Does that go beyond saying?

Of course. Duracoat probably wouldn't do so well on plastic. Duh! :nerd:

The jeweling on the barrel looks positively smashing too. I'm glad that your branching out and have a gun that's not green.
You make me so proud sometimes I could just cry.

What brand Kydex holster did you get? Pics?
Sorry, lost track of the thread or would have gotten back to you sooner.
I use a modified by me Alabama Kydex pocket holster. Mods were to cut off the thumb push off, cut the back of the holster to match the front [in a stress draw thumb can't pinch Kydex and pull out the holster], reshaped the hook so it is a little flatter and loosened the dimple retention just a tad to make for an easier holster push off with my middle finger.
Pic is from Alabama Holster sight and shows a flat pocket bottom hook, mine is round pocket style hook because most my pants have round bottom pockets...
