New CW 45 Lube

Hi all. I just picked up my brand new CW45 yesterday. I haven't got to shoot it yet but I love the way this thing looks and feels. My only question is about lubing it, especially the first time. I took it apart yesterday because it seemed like it had been dunked in oil. I mean this thing had oil everywhere. So I took it apart and wiped off the excessive oil and cleaned it from its factory test fire. I just hope that I've oiled the right amount again once done. I have seen the lube thread on here and I believe I've covered most of those parts. I was just wondering do most of you lube your CW's to the point of dripping everywhere or just a little bit lie a glock? I'm not used to having to put oil on the rear part of the slide by the firing mechanism.

I don't lube it till it drips, just enough that you can see a film. If you clean it after each trip to the range, you should be fine. I'm also used to glocks and these kahrs are different in a lot of ways. I have about 400 rounds thru each of my two kahrs with no problems so far. It might be a good idea to clean and dry your striker channel once to get the factory gunk out. Enjoy!:yo:

On Kahrs, I highly recommend using a thin film of a quality synthetic grease on the slide and metal to metal areas and and a light film of gun oil everywhere else that needs lubrication. These small handguns really take a pounding and having something a little heavier to provide lubrication will help ensure reliability.

go to the kahr tech section and hit on the sticky. KAHR LUBE CHART. u can't go wrong with this .

For the first 500 rounds of every weapon I fire I shoot it wet. aka well lubed. After that like the previous posters said, a light film. the tighter the tolerances when new the wetter I shoot it.

For instance on a new unfired AR-15 it will be slinging lube.

I tend to run my Kahrs and SIG's wet, HK's, S&W's, and Kimber's not so much. I would definitely use a good grease on the rails, barrel, and slide lock. I do this on all my semi's and have for over forty years. I have owned seven Kahrs and have not had a failure from the first shot on any of them using this method.

for those of you that use grease, do you find they collect a lot of debris and gunk when used as a carry gun?

I shot my cm9 with militec grease on the slide rails, but use slip2000 lube when carrying... with fear the grease will just collect a lot of extra gunk

I use a product called Strike-Hold. Its a multi-functional product for all metals that cleans, lubricates, protects and de-moisterizes. I have been using it on my handguns for years and it does an incredible job of cleaning and lubricating. Check it out at strikehold.com. I know you will like it.

Probably to much of anything as far as any lubricant goes will accumulate CRUD, but I have carried my PM9 in my front pocket for over 5years in a desantis. that rig keeps my guns basically clean as a pin, and I lube with TW 25 lube on the rails--every so lightly to b ut I do use the kahr lube chart. The gun stays very very clean and I just shot my PM9 yesterday and it has been in my desantis/pocket for the past 3 months without firing it and it was IMO clean as a pin. When I wash my jeans, I make sure the pockets are always pulled out before washing so as no lint can hide their later on. My 3 kahrs I would not even be close to calling them running wet. MINE certainly run very well semi dry. every gun is different so YMMV, All lubes are excellent to, common sense must be used. A gun dripping wet is basi9 cally wasted lube that is doing nothing, evidentley it is not staying where u put it, so that would tell me to try something different. Oil is gonna run, I don't care who makes it, grease to a certain extent will run, it has a petroleum base. synthetics seem to stay alot longer but a carry gun IMO should be periodicaly cleaned whether shot or not.

Always a good plan! But the guns do get cleaner that way. It's the banging and clanging in the drier that upsets me.
