Just purhcased my new CW45 last Friday. Over the weekend I decided I wanted to see how the trigger was compared to my CM9. So I went to rack the slide and eject the bullet in the chamber. The gun was jammed. It took a very large amount of force to rack the slide and get the bullet out. It was a critical defense 185g bullet. I could not see anything wrong other than the ejector was much further in than on my CM9. When there is no bullet in my CM9 the ejector is flush with the outside edge of the slide. Then with a bullet in chamber it protrudes... thus round in chamber indicator as the manual says. The CW45 seems to be different even though the manual says it should protrude... it does not. With a bullet in the chamber the ejector only comes flush.

Is this typical? I am taking it back to the shop I purchased it from tomorrow but wanted to know if anyone else has seen this with their CW45.

My CW45 extractor doesn't seem to act as a loaded chamber indicator either. I have not had the trouble ejecting a live round that you describe. Good luck with that and please post what you find to be the problem. :yo:

Ok here is a strange update. I ran home for lunch and put 7 rounds of FMJ ammo in... just some cheap stuff I got along with the critical defense. So... they ran fine. I did it 3 times. So 21 rounds through the gun... hand cycled and it feed and extracted each one perfectly.

Ug. So maybe the gun is fine but can not handle the critical defense rounds?

Seems likely. Many guns are picky about what they eat. http://home.mindspring.com/%7Ejustsomeguy/icon_lol.gif

Dang... I really like those rounds. Anyone have experience feeding a CW45 speer gold dot? Hope I spelled that right.

The reason for the difference in the extractors is that 45 acp and 9 mm bullets are shaped differently at the back. There have been reports of other P45s and CW45s having this problem ejecting unfired rounds. Some of the Kahr 45s have a little relief ground into the front of the ejection port, but others don't. If you send it to Kahr, they would probably add the relief if none is there, or enlarge it.

Many folks have a hard time ejecting loaded rounds especially in the 45's at first. I think it's kind of a finesse thing. Yours should eat Critical Defense like candy, if not we need to find the reason why.

After break in with the cheap stuff I'd try it and see how it shoots. If all goes well which I think it will you can work on the finesse thing for clearing a loaded chamber.

Just alot happening in a very small package. Briskly, ejection port kind of down, with authority all come to mind.

Thanks guys. I will try to get to the range this weekend and pump some FMJ through it. Then see if it will take a critical defense.

Length and shape of the projectile sometimes causes issues.
