Could take up to 90 days. You did an overkill that may have slowed the process - because of several things.

First, the Pennsylvania and Illinois papers - not needed, may spur information requests that would impede the process.

Second, a passport photo is not the correct size. The correct size is actually smaller than a passport. You needed to check the sizing on the application - which is printed in actual size.

For readers' reference, going through the local agricultural office is the fastest way to get a Florida carry permit. Check online for a local office - not all do the license work. At the office, they will log directly into the state computer in Tallahassee, they will do e-Prints, which are e-transferred directly to the FBI, they will take a digital photograph that is also transferred to the state's computer system, and finally they will confirm payment on the spot (certified payment - cashiers check or USPS money order).

If you do it that way, the wait is about 5 to 10 business days. I know this - I live this regularly!~

I was on the bubble on sending the other stuf in. But I figured since I had the other CCW permit it might speed things up. And the Illinois FOID card is a Firearms Owners I D. We got to have that or its against the law here to even have ammo in this state even at home.

I was told to follow directions exactly, when we sent are stuff in. Or they would send it back. Here in central florida it was faster to mail it in then make the appointment at the agr. office.

I just handed in my Oregon CCL paperwork today. They told me 45 days, and don't call us, we'll mail it when it's ready. Does it really take 45 days to check with two character references, and print a license card? Some counties do it in less than 2 weeks. Should take about 2 days, it would seem. If this function were privatized, it would undoubtedly take less than a week.

I can hardly wait until the government has full control of health care. "The doctor will see you in 45 days, sir. And please don't call us again".

Something's changed then. I dont know what has changed... since I direct folks to get the free e-application at the Div/Ag office.

When I was cutting Polaroids, I had to modify a standard passport camera (refocus more distant) to get the head size so it would fit into the oval on the form - printed in full size. Passports, as I recall were 2x2....

Wait... my bad.

Folks, I just realized - they're scanning the image you send them. Ok, thats the change. They no longer put the photo you send right onto the laminated license.

My apologies.

I'll stand by not giving them more than they ask for. Military record is fine. The other stuff... may well lend itself to confusion. And I'll stand by going down to the local Division of Agriculture office, and asking if you can wait in case there's a no show - there almost always is. You can get the card in a week and a half that way.

Ya dont make the appointment. You go down, ask to wait for a no-show. In WPB, I've only had one guy say he didn't get in within the hour. BTW, if you do that - have EVERYTHING ready. That way they don't waste time with you trying to get stuff done. You have it all ready... you'll get in, then walk out quick.

I filled mine out to the letter.
Have had a FL licence for about 20 years.
It was passport photos when I did it.
Had to fill out the paper work and more photos after 10/15 years.

I sent mine certified with signature required and that seems to get them to
step on it. Although they have a 90 day turnaround, mine came back in like 30/45.

I can't imagine not having one.
My folks live in the U.S. communist block called California.
I've made it crystal clear I'm never moving back.

Well at the time they had so many people trying for the walk-in they refused everyone. Because they didnt want people just hanging around. If they had a cancelation, that day they called someone from there appointment list. This was the one in orlando. I was told it wasnt like that at the others in florida. This was about a year ago so it might be different now.

If can take up to 90 days, but if you provided all necessary information and have no criminal record you should have it within two weeks.

Florida also has a habit of rejecting paper fingerprint cards. Rejected mine once and my wife's twice. This from several local police dept's. Finally had to go to WPB for the electronic scan.
Actually I'm not to torn up about this cause once she has her CC, she's gonna want to carry one of my weapons. Given all the manufacturer's wait periods now, it might be a few months before i can get something I want badly.

The rejects are from the FBI, not Florida, but... it could be Fl's fault in the handling of the cards (smudging, smearing, etc). E-Prints, much much better to deal with.

Funny thing that her prints were rejected onsite by the WPB office. Said her swirls were too shallow to print and they would have to go on her SS#
for a background check. Since this is a shall issue state, I'm waiting to see
how long THIS takes. Maybe we should have claimed Mexican Drug Gang
priority for issuance.

Well folks.... dont listen to me any longer on this.

I only feel as if I know the process inside out because I've put well over 1500, maybe over 2000 people, I simply dont know, though the process with so little negative feedback I cant remember any.

I'm sure there are alternate scenarios with plenty of grief to be had by all. To each his own.

Hell I have had my Florida CCW since 1991. I believe I have renewed for the fourth time already and this time it is good for seven years. It used to be good for five years.
My wife went and let her's expire and had to go through the process a second time...dumb ass! Lucky for her her brother is a deputy and is friends with a certified instructor who pushed the paperwork through and got hers back in about 2-3 weeks. I also hab a very early carry license from Georgia back when I was an officer in the Army while stationed at Ft. Benning. Back them in 1977 the actual license was for a particular weapon if I remember correctly. Damn I'm getting to be an old fart.

Hey I resemble that? Did she lose her safety certificate?

DKD

Not sure...if you want to know the truth since he was close to the family, knew they grew up around firearms and just had a case of brain damage by not paying the damn $50.00 renewal fee, jst signed off on the paperwork and marched on. Did a once over safety thing, talked a while, and away she went...no re doing the range firing crap either. It really is a joke. The only important thing was the background check and finger print/picture. And of course since she was a idiot had to pay I believe $150.00
What can I say...woman..bet she wouldn't forget her doctors, hair or manicure appointment.

Gotcha... for clarity of those reading - once you get the certificate, there is no further need of another (unless you lose it), and no further mandated involvement by the instructor.
