P45, Tommy Gun.

No mods. My P45 is my truck piece. The Tommy Gun is my pride-of-place piece in my gun room...

:D Love the fit for the size of my hand and even during the first couple hundred "break-in" rounds found it performed extremely well. Would definitely recommend it to anyone else who has a smaller paw like I do.

PM9, well, I just sold it a few weeks back. Waiting for an all black P380 with nite sights or if my patience wears out, settle for a S/S with nite sights when they come out.

I only have a P380 at the moment (which I dearly love!). I will say however, I shot a CW9 and was amazed at the accuracy. I put 7 rounds in essentially one hole (maybe slightly larger then a quarter) at 10 yards shooting off hand. Not sure if I can do that again but I really hated to give that gun back to its owner. I think the CW is next on my list. :D

Guess I got hit with the "Kahr bug" pretty bad. In the last six months I acquired:

K9 Elite with Crimson trace
K40 Covert
CW40
P45
PM9 in black

Just added the XS Big Dot sights to the PM9 and absolutely love them. Will be ordering two more sets to add on to the other guns. I need to find the "cure" for this bug as it is rather expensive! STay safe.

K40 Matte Stainless with Smooth Wood Grips, Trijicon Night Sights, a stainless guide rod, heavier than stock recoil spring and lighter than stock striker spring. I shoot CorBon 135 gr or Remington 155 gr Golden Saber for serious social purposes and whatever is cheap and available (S&B, Wolf Brass, Winchester USA, etc.) for practice. I use a Don Hume Open Top Pancake Holster.
I have a buddy who has exactly the same set-up except he has Checkered Wood Grips and uses a Milt Sparks IWB holster.

And I goofed, it's 17 pistols.

Just became the owner of Kahr TP45. Love it.

I rear gobbs of stuff on the internet about folks that thought that their Kahr was junk.

Mine is tight and accurate, 1.5 inch groups at 7 yards. One FTF out of fifty rounds. I'm very pleased.:

PM9 in black with night sights - I love the size and weight, great for everyday carry

MK40 Elite with night sights, stainless guide rod, and wood grips - I love this gun, very smooth.

P45 is my Concealed Carry piece. No modifications. I love this gun... accurate, easily concealed and 6+1 rounds w/ extra magazine. This is the best carry gun I've ever had.

I have a K40 which I bought new in Aug 02. Installed the Haarts recoil reducer and just recently Trijion night sights. At one time I bought the Cocobolo grips but changed back to the original rubber ones - a more firm feel. I've never had a misfire or hangup - it just keeps firing!

The K40 is my main carry gun (my secondary one is the Para Companion C7.45LDA).

All in all, I'm very pleased with the K40.

CW9 with Crimson Trace trigger guard Laser. Gun shot GREAT right out of the box! Laser was dead on after installation and gave the gun the right amount of muzzle weight. I love having a full handed IWB draw with NO fingers left dangling or need to reposition before shooting!

I let a fine MK9 get away, but my P-40 that I've carried for seven years is going to stay with me.
My next one will be a K-9 Elite, as I'm paring down to 9mm's and 45 ACP in auto pistols, but the P-40 still stays.
Nothing, NOTHING, with adequate power carries as well or handles as well as the "normal" size Kahr. Can you tell I like them a lot?

I had a K9 but it was a little too heavy for CCW. Downsizing to a P9 with a Frank Duren colorized (he hates to call it paint) slide, nite sights, smoothed feedramp and sear has made it my everyday companion.

So far the best CC gun I have ever owned.

That's why I bought the PM40, if you hit Walley World at the right time you can get 9mm and sometimes 45acp. But there are 40S&W on the shelf at any Walley World I go to all the time, less now that I have a PM40:D
And the added bonus is the PM40 is sweet to shoot and a breeze to carry.

I bought an E9 a while back and it was my favorite 9mm until I bought the PM9. I made a pocket Kydex holster where I carry all the time. I also own a MK40. The only trouble that I have had with it is that I lost a couple of grip screws while shooting. I put a little locktight on the screws but haven't shot it since I did that. I also bought the P45 and when I went to shoot it I had another 45 to compair it too. Needless to say, I sold that other 45 at the next gun show. I love my Khars and have my eye out for the PM45 - I guess I'm just Khar Krazy.

Howdy ya' all ! ( I learned to say this, last year, when I moved to Texas )
I also carry a CW40 .... 24/7 ... what a blessing after carrying my big daddy XD .45 ( which I also luv )
But even the Kahr, in a matrix holster will sweat up a storm !
Concealing the CW40, under my T-shirts, OWB is sure easier than the full size .45s.
I like tha' .45s .... maybe a CW45 is in tha' works ???? :D

I have a CW9. At the time, I wished I could have afforded a PM9, but the CW9 is everything a person could ask for. I have more than 1000 rounds through it, and carry it every day. I mostly use a Don Hume open-top IWB holster. It's adjustable on the belt, comfortable, sturdy, and sits tight & low without getting in the way of a full grip when drawing. It's inexpensive and good quality. I also have a thumb-break belt slide for the heavy clothing season, but really like the Hume IWB. My wife has a beautiful over-the-shoulder purse with rear gun compartment from Ray's Holsters (M150 Crossbody Large Tote), that she loves.

I have been looking for either the CW .45 or the PM .45 but they can't be sold in California. Come on Kahr, help me out.

I settled for a CW 9 and am quite happy with it. I've had it for only two weeks, but have put 200 rounds through it without a problem. Not sure I will need to do anything to this gun other than carry it 24/7.

I have an E9 that I bought in 1998. It was sent to a gunsmith for a black teflon coating and to have the Elite 98 trigger installed. Later, I had a front-sight dovetailed.

More recently, I bought a CW9 (remember those stimulus checks last year?). I quickly had the grip chopped to the PM/MK size like the old Coverts. Eventually I learned how to perform my own trigger job. I now carry my CW9 every day.

Thanks for the info. For my first gun, I purchased a k9 because I figured the SS would absorb the kick back. I thought my next investment would be a p40 for the lighter weight... but you've convinced me I should stick with SS.

I have two

P9 with the A-grip, I like that better than the plastic. I've had it for more than 3 years now, excellent little pistol
just purchased:
PM9 with black slide, added a crimson trace and the grip extender. This one will live in my pocket. Just took it our to the range for the first time last night. It gobbled up 150+ rounds of ball, and about 10 of each of the +P 124 Golden Saber and the +P+ 127 Ranger. Never a hiccup. Neither of my guns ever yet gave me any problems during break in.

I am still a little surprised every time I shoot these guns how little recoil there is. I don't think even my full sized M&P is any tamer.

Hello All,

I'm an old 1911 guy. I'm so old I attended S&W Academy when they still taught revolvers, maybe that's why I like the Kahrs so much (trigger stroke you know). I carry mostly ParaOrd 45s on duty. However, I bought my first Kahr in the early 90s on my badge. It was a K9, still have it. It was a little too big for backup. I got a DeSantis thumb break nylon holster from a manufacturere's promotion. Works good, no complaints. It always shot a bit to the right for me, left handed shooter, NRA Outdoor Pistol Expert/Master Outdoor pistol ( in the old days when you used open sights)..........not the "jerk" zone. About four years ago I bought a PM9 with night sites. I was going to buy the same without night sites but the salesman dropped it in front of me, he gave me the night sites at the same price............luck. I carry it a lot. Sent the K9 back to Kahr for Nite sites. Carry both in Don Hume inside waistband holsters under untucked shirt. Both shoot point of aim at 25 yards...............can't really tell the difference between the two on target. I have a 14" I beam, X 21", 25 yards from my back step. ALL shots in man's chest at 25 yrds, basically "timed fire". I also have two Auto Ord 1911s. First was the compensated Comp model. I took off the recoil compensator and the mag well funnel and put in Cylinder and Slide sear etc.............super gun. The second is also a pre-Kahr AO. Night sites, and the Cylinder and Slide Safe Fastfire System.........super accurate gun........Take it from an old timer............Kahr and Auto-Ord make good stuff.............I've bet my life on them.

I have the stainless PM9 with night sights, six 6 round magazines and the 7 round magazine that came with it. It is my choice when concealability is an issue. I carry the PM9 in a pocket holster and inside the waistband.

For work around the house I have a Glock G19 with Trijicon night sights. It also serves as my bedside pistol.

I've been acquiring small arms for over half a century: firearms, edged and impact weapons, even have a small crossbow. I have seven Kahrs, two in each caliber: SW9 & PM9 - both with CT lasers, .40Covert & PM40 & MK40, P45 and PM45. They all have Big-Dot tritium sights, except the spare PM9 slide which has guttersnipe tritiums and is matt-black coated by David Clay. My everywhere gun: a Kel-Tec P3AT w/CT laser.

Bought my FIRST Kahr just 3 days ago, a standard PM9, nothing fancy but is a joy to carry. Don't know what more I can do with it, it's almost perfect as it is... but will just add the followings:

* Hogue "Jr" (already on the gun)
* Pearce extension

Yet to take it to the range, but plan is to be my primary ccw if the break-in process is a smooth-sailing.

Next I bought a wonderful T9.
Then came a P45 with Mepro NS.

It's a Gently used P9. I'll post picks when I get it on Monday.

I already have a couple of questions though...

1) Some of you say you had "factory" night sights on your guns. What brand of night sights do they put on at the factory, Trijicon or Meprolight?

2) I was on the Kahr website looking up night sights and they list two different types for "Old style slide" and "New style slide". How do I know which version I have?

I'm leaning towards the Big Dots but am still undecided. Any help in answering my questions is greatly appreciated.

Normally, virtually always Mepro.....although I understand Kahr customer service has said a few shipped with Trijicons.

Kahr has a tool right there at the order point to let you visually determine which slide dovetail cut you have. I'm thinking all of the P series came with the new style, but I could easily be wrong.

You can call them and provide your serial number to fund out which slide type you have. I would suggest having Kahr do the sight install for you. Then you can be sure to get the right sights installed without risk of damaging your gun. Those sights are very tight!

I've got a Kahr MK9 with XS standard dot tritium sights, a stainless guide rod, and wooden grips. Best gun I have in terms of shootability. The reliability crown would probably have to go to my Ruger SP101, but the MK9 is a close second. send your slide and barrel to Magna-port.com and get it done right. Why have that exteneded part sticking out. You wil totally love a magna-ported set up on your PM9. My PM9 and K9 and G19 are all magna-ported and don't believe all the myths you hear about ported guns either. You will shoot better, expecially your second shot, you willshoot more, for it tames the gun down big time. :blah:

I just picked up my first kahr yesterday (a black PM40). I took it to the range today to "break it in". Not a single FTF, FTE, stovepipe, etc in 250 rounds. Certainly not what I expected after reading so many "negative" posts on some of the forums. WHAT A GREAT LITTLE PISTOL! Smaller than my G26 & 36, and what a pleasure to shoot. It is incredibly accurate too. I bought a set of Wolfe 22.5lb springs but doubt I will use them now. This little guy will definitely be my new carry piece, and more than likely just my FIRST Kahr.

Hi! First off, first post, so "Hello, everyone!"

I got my first Kahr, a K40 Covert a while back. I was looking for the ultimate backup/offduty piece. We'd just switched to .40 and I thought keeping the same caliber was good (mostly for the ammo I could scrounge out of the firarms instructors ;) ). I really liked it and it was accurate as all get out, but way heavier than what I wanted. It also had issues with not retaining the shorter magazines. The finger extention versions worked fine, but the shorter ones tended to pop out during firing. Annoying to say the least.

Then along came my PM40. Oh, yeah! I normally wear it IWB in a Done Hume clip-on and it practically disappears. At work it's normally on my ankle where I can really appreciate it's light weight over the K40 Covert.

Both were gunshow purchases and great deals. If I had it to do over again, I might have gone with the PM9 (a friend has one and asked me to "break it in" for him ... Great friend, eh?), but I'm not complaining. Recoil is ... stout, to say the least ("kills on one end, wounds on t'other") but it works quite well. Most folks that have shot mine get feeding failures b/c they just totally underestimate how tight and locked you have to hold the little beast. It works great for me, though and that's all that matters. When I bought the PM40 I wasn't sure how well it would hold up but so far [knock-on-wood], every time I disassemble it I can see it's holding up quite well. :D Mine has the big white dot tritium express-style sights. Not quite target quality but superb for fast aquisition and accurate enough especially 15 yards and in.

The K40 Covert is a safe queen of which I'm rather fond. The PM40, however, is a near constant companion.

Hello, CeltKnight, and welcome to the forum. There's a lot of info available here and we try to share good deals and opinions about a lot of things. I went to a gun show about three weeks ago, looking for a PM45-NS, DLC. I didn't find that and I wasn't sure that I would make the buy if I did 'cause I just bought a new 58" plasma and a lot of ammo with the deals at Cabela's. I did run a cross a like-new PM9, NS & DLC with all that comes in the box. I managed to get that out the door for $588, so I'm a fan of the PM9, as well. Last time at the range I fired some CorBon 125gr +P ammo and it definitely kicks more, makes more noise and flash, but it was manageable and I didn't flinch firing it, so that was probably similar to your PM40 in recoil. I'm still working on my DAO trigger pull, though.
Wynn:)

Thanks, Wynn!
Hot 9x19s in a PM9 will give you an idea of a PM40s whallop. So far the only small auto to rival its smack-to-the-hand that I've found is the Radom P64 (9x18 but fixed barrel).
Still, not complaining, though, just observing. :)
Sounds like you chose a great piece yourself, though.
--- Cheers and thanks for the welcome!

Thanks. Down here in Florida I wear mostly shorts and Tees, with Polos for dress, so a light carry is better. I've been waiting just short of 10 months for my P380N that I hope will be my regular carry. I ran across a PM9 a few gun shows ago and first thought it might be a 380, but found that it was a PM9, DLC with N/S like the one I have now. That was the first time that I had ever seen and held one, and I was impressed with the size -- so small and compact, but shooting a full-sized round. After all the talk about PM9s on this forum, I decided to get the one I found at the last show, while looking for a PM45. I really like the PM models, and while I think the K series are the best looking and feeling, I really appreciate the compactness and light weight. I feel much better carrying a more powerful pistol. I WAS carrying a Walther TPH .22 with Stingers because everything else is too heavy or bulky for shorts.
When I get the 380, I plan to break it in and test it with +P ammo. I have a good supply of Buffalo Bore 90-grain JHPs that seem well thought out by the manufacturer -- bonded bullets, low flash powder, and very good performance out of a short barrel. If those shoot well, I'll carry them. A back up load is the Hornady Critical Defense 90-grain JHP with the polymer inserts. Those did well in the initial tests and reviews. I'll always have the PM9 if I feel the need and later, a PM45 when more clothes are in order.

Dress (and weather) is about the same here on the AL Gulf Coast. My P3AT has been my "always" gun and even when I'm carrying my PM40 that tiny .380 is usually still in a pocket or on my ankle (the fastest reload being another gun, after all). I've tested my .380 (normally loaded with either Hydra-Shoks or Gold Dots) on pressurized tires, auto glass, etc. and I'm convinced all the bashing by armchair pundits that the .380 is insufficient is just so much hot air. I've seen people moving around and talking with thru-and-thru .38 special head wounds but DRT from .22s and .25s to the head or heart ... all just a matter of where the lead goes, not how big it is. As you carried a TPH I'm sure you understand that concept quite well.

All that said, however, I will admit to feeling a bit more comfortable knowing that I've got full-house .40 S&W loads on board in a package only a wee bit bigger than my Kel-Tec and still smaller than a .38 J-frame (Federal 180 grain HSTs ... I prefer the 155 grain loads in my PM40 but we issue the 180s). Last spring at my granddaughter's 1st birthday I wore my PM40 IWB under a T-shirt. We were in a city park and my son and his friends kept dragging me into their wrestling matches. Despite all the rough play, chasing the baby, and general merry-making, no one noticed the PM40 (and in truth, I virtually forgot it was there).

When folks ask I usually suggest the PM9 (one more round on board and a wee bit easier to control). I only went with the .40 because: 1. it's the ammo I'm issued (some, anyway), 2. caliber compatability with my duty piece (over-rated issue probably, but I'm lazy), and 3. [i.e. the "real" reason] the guy selling had the PM40 rather than the PM9 and I got it for $450 LNIBCAN (Like New In Box Cash And Carry). :D I'm still not convinced the .40 will stand up to a LOT of shooting but several hundred (at least) rounds later mine still looks great inside, so what do I know? LOL

--- Cheers

These Kahrs are pretty durable. They are rated for +P and one of our members says he has fired over 25,000 rounds through his PM9. With a little TLC they will be around for a LONG time. The Kahr-patented, molded-in steel rails (more than just rails) give rigidity and long life to the polymer frame.
Years ago I considered getting a compact polymer-framed Taurus .45acp and then I looked them up on the 'Net. They were junk that started falling apart the first trip to the range. I never cared for the chunky Glocks, though I did think about the night-sighted model 21 with 13+1 rounds of .45 ACP! While I like higher capacity, I value the smaller, single-stack, more concealable Kahrs... and Justine Moon has pretty much perfected the polymer frame and compact design of the trigger mechanism allowing the lower position of the barrel and resulting lower, more manageable recoil... or so they say.:D
I've had a K9 since march of '98. I got my FL CCW permit in the previous December. Most of the carrying I did with that was walking my dog or walking/hiking in Colorado on my wife's folks' property in the mountains. I was more likely to carry my S&W 645 hiking. There are BIG cats, bears, and coyotes in the area and my thought has always been to try to scare anything away with a shot or two, unless there's no other choice. Once wounded, some animals become committed to the attack... and more vicious!
Florida has a great CCW law and they license you to carry weapons, not just firearms. Basically we can carry anything that is legal concealed. When I was walking my dog late at night, I carried a Para P12 with 12+1, a stun gun, a Pelican M9 flashlight, and a cell phone. I made more than a few calls to the non-emergency Police line to report things. And a few times I was glad to have the stun gun and a choice of how to defend against a large, threatening dog. The discharge of the stun gun was enough to keep one at bay. I never had to actually stun a dog, though I would, had he gotten close enough -- better than a head shot or serious wound.
Dang, I can get long-winded... love to talk... still can't type well. I "learned" typing in the USAF... needed 20 WPM to get out of the class.

I currently own Three Khar's.
CW9mm
P40 covert
PM 9mm night sights. Have owned others in the past. Sold or traded them off for some stupid reason, maybe it didn't seem so at the time, but I always come back to Khars. Best carry piece, high quality and fun..
