Just a theory- I was wondering how many of us are not only into shooting guns, but also pictures? I have a Nikon D3000 DSLR which I love. A good photography forum is:

Checking in. :D
Nikon here as well... Had quite a few over the years, but shoot with the D7000 these days, sold my D300s after getting it because it suits my needs better, high ISO quality mainly. Threw a vertical grip on it and a Bluetooth GPS for automatic geotagging as well.

My only camara is my Razr:
"With camera phones all the rage these days, the RAZR V3 follows suit. As mentioned earlier, the camera lens is mounted above the external display. Users will be able to capture images at 3 resolution qualities: MMS (160 x 120 px), Medium (320 x 240 px), and High (640 x 480 px)."
Very impressive right? LOL
I think I'm concerned about my image taking my soul or something.
Or maybe folks will figure out I should have died two or three hundred years ago...

I have a Pentax K100D. I have Pentax ZX5 35mm film camera with about a half dozen lenses I collected over the years. All of the Pentax lenses produced can be used on their digital bodies so it just made good sense to stay with them and use my new and old lenses from the 80s. I still will shoot film from time to time as I like the look of it better, but it is just easy to grab the digital and shoot.
probly should and that most of my photography is travel and documentary, some nature and bird photography, and weddings in a past life

Hassleblad, nice I do have a cheap Seagull 120 TLR if you stop it down you can get some good images. Not even remotely close to a Hassleblad, but none the less fun to play with.
my husband is. he has a Canon EOS 5D Mark II
I'm with Barth, I just use my phone. :o any $$ I don't spend on guns goes into my saltwater reef tank.

I've got a Fuji something or other in 2010 as a retirement gift.
Everytime I try to decide what dslr I want, I get overwhelmed with all the info. Then 6mo. later I come back and get overwhelmed again. LoL. I need to just go get one. I've taken thousands of pics with a point and shoot over the past several years. They turn out good and all, but I need to step up my game.

How big is your tank?
I have 3 $$ hobbies; guns, photography, and my 75g reef tank :)
Photography and a reef tank go hand in hand!
we have a 55g that's about 10 years old, and we are in the process of a custom 225g build. We have the tank, stand, pump, and skimmer. I'm building the sump/fuge right now. Having to do it a little at a time.
Canon 40D user here with the following lenses.
Canon EF 70-200mm f/4 L IS USM
Canon EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM
Canon EF-S 60mm f/2.8 macro USM
Canon Extender EF 1.4X II
And a few other lesser Canon lenses that I no longer use.

Hahahaha. Heck, I know why and I still don't understand. ;)

The Canon L line of lenses are the top of the line for them. The L lenses have a red ring around the lens barrel. It's their way of separating the upper end line from the rest.
Sort of like owning a PM9 instead of a CM9. :D

Nice rig there... I'm planning on getting a d5100 this summer. As long as I don't come across any more guns I just have to have!

Canon 60D
18-135 kit lens
(which is surprisingly decent)
60mm f2.8 macro
(also nice for landscapes and portraits)
28mm f1.8 was next purchase, but the Kahr CW9 got to my money first :)
I also have a BlackRapids strap which I very highly recommend to all DSLR owners!
http://www.blackrapid.com/product/camera-strap/rs-7/
BUT, it screws on the bottom so you can't use a tripod at the same time. I recently made a bottom plate so that's no longer an issue. I loved the strap before, but now it's true love. :D
I'll post a pic later once I figure out where to upload it.

It's not the camera, it's the person behind it.
I've seen better photos from an iPhone from someone that new photography that looked better than photos from a $2000 camera body by someone who didn't. :)

Thunder71, maybe yqtszhj has "mad skills" in photography, but thinks it is his camera that it's doing it!
At least he said it about his own camera... Someone in my family always tells me "your camera takes really nice pictures". It's kind of like telling a cook "your pots and pans make really good food"! ;)

Wow, the food here is fantastic! I need to ask our waiter what pots and pans the chef uses!

I totally agree with you, and I too get some really nice shots with my iPhone. I use Snapseed to do some "photoshop" type work to correct white balance etc. when needed. Great app!
BUT, a phone or a point-and-shoot can't provide nearly the depth of field of a fast lens on a DSLR, or the creative control of many other aspects a DSLR provides. That being said... the camera and lens does play a part in helping the photographer "get the good shots".

Good point. When I get the settings right it takes great pictures. :D I was pretty good at it for a while (while learning) but then I forgot a lot or just don't think about the ISO/shutterspeed/ aperture stuff because I quit taking as many pictures. We had a around a 16x24 enlargement of the family from Great Sand Dune park in Colorado that was really nice.
BUT I did get (or should I say the wife got) 2 of the the IS lenses because I had the shakes too bad. Now I've gotten so lazy I don't like using it as much because I have to load everything on the computer to do anything with it and that takes so much time. The wife still uses it a lot.
You mentioned the iPhone, I can take come really crappy pictures with that. The shakes thing again. Almost as bad as the webcam pictures of my guns here on Kahrtalk. ;)
I bought the wife a Nikon D3100 for Christmas. We both really like that camera. I also picked up an 55 to 205mm zoom lens for it. I got the lens for short money so I couldn't resist. She is doing pretty good with it.
And Muggsy....., I also still have my old Minolta SRT101. another great camera. I have not used it for years. Whereas, we have pretty much gone Digital, I should probably sell my SRT101 and all the lenses I have for it.

I could be wrong, but I think your Minolta lenses might work with the current Sony DSLRs. I believe Sony bought them and that's where their camera business started.

You're on the right track... but I think WMD would still need an adapter. I am pretty sure the Sony Alpha mount is basically the Minolta MA mount and his camera is MC. I did this with my Minolta X700 lenses (MD mount) on my Canon 60D and it worked good (with some drawbacks though). If you have a lot of nice lenses, it would be worth trying... and a fun experiment!
FWIW, anyone grousing for a full frame Canon... the 5DmkII will be going on sale for $1950 or so - body, to make room for the mkIII version. Prices already have dropped a little. The mkII is a great camera, nothing afoul there, just ... newer stuff always takes its place.
of course......lol
well, hubby has had his a little over a year, so I guess that's OK.
