Order came in the mail today with the new parts for my K40. I'm impressed with the new slide release. Its MUCH better than the old ones I had. The sharp edges are gone which meant I didn't have to sit with a file and stones for an hour, nice! You can easily see the quality of the machined parts has vastly improved from the Kahrs of the 90's.
Picked up a set of Triji sights from Kahr while I was at it. Makes no sense to pay for shipping and only order one thing right? At least that what I tell myself so I feel better about buying more stuff :D. Rear site was on sale for $25 and what good is a rear sight without a new front sights, so I got one of them too. Pair cost $55 total.
Was a little scared when I see instructions from Kahr saying "DO NOT USE A PUNCH" to remove and install the sights. Yeah, I don't own a sight pusher and I don't want to spend $100 for one. I've installed a few dove tail sights before, how much different could they be? Answer.... none. The rear sight came out with a few hit using a brass punch. New rear sight was a little large (as it should be) so I went to work with a small file and trimmed it until it could could be pushed in about 40% by hand then using the punch I tapped it in snug as a bug. The front sight was a pain in the bleep to remove. They must have some crazy press at Kahr to push them in. I had to smack the crap out of it after letting it soak in liquid wrench for an hour. I was able to get it off and not damage anything. Fitted the new front site with a file just like the rear and was done. It looks awesome now. Only thing left to do is send it off to Magnaport in the next couple months.
