Looking at getting a 380 for my wife possibly, just because she wants something small, and I have a cm9 and so far so good.
however, before deciding on the cm9, i was looking at the p380 but the reviews, especially on here, were anything but uplifting.
Has anything changed in the last 5 months lol, or is still hit or miss? thanks

Anything worth having is worth paying the price for. You can go with the best or run with the rest. The wonderful thing about living in America is that you get to choose. Choose well, grasshopper.

MY P380 has renewed my total faith in it as of yesterday...
My new to me p380 first range experience two weeks ago went well. It only has 100 rounds through her of S&B FMJ's. As a matter of fact I am going to the range in 45 minutes with a co-worker and will run another 100 rounds of FMJ and a couple magazines of JHP. One box of the FMJ's is split 25 rounds of FMJ handloads and 25 rounds of FMJ flat points just to check out function. I was able to hand rack a few magazine loads back at the house and see no reason why they won't function under fire. I'll post results either tonight or tomarrow morning.
Just for the hell of it I will be taking my PM45 carry piece along to cycle my old carry 200 grain +P Gold Dots mags which I will replenish with fresh ammo.
Cheers...!:53:

i get that, but my cm9 cost 350 brand new, and the p380 costs more and is not as reliable (usually).... i just cant see spending more on a tiny faulty version of my cm9 :blushing:

Twice now I've emailed Kahr asking if a C380 is in the works and haven't been given the courtesy of a reply.

I guess it all depends on how urgent the need. If a P380 saves your life it may well be worth the price. The latest issue P380s seem to be relatively problem free. I have a solid KelTec P3AT, but it will be passed on to my son as soon as a C380 becomes available from Kahr. If I didn't have the P3AT I wouldn't hesitate to buy a P380.

But you know they are paying attention if they are getting a lot of those requests. They just don't have an answer right now that you would want to hear. I emailed Jay asking when they are going to change the followers like the mod that we know works. He never answered.

they are not going to let the cat out of the bag until the time is ready, if they say it is in the works, maybe many will just back off from buying the P380 now and wait it out. I would think the next cm series might be the 45.
When the P380 does what it is supoosed to do, IMO there is none better. yesterday was my first bi shoot with it in dan near one year, as I didn';t trust the gun like I wanted and my PM9 trumps the 380 any day of the week, so it just set there, but like I mentioned, I had about a box and half of PMC fmj, so I did the propper prepping thing completely with a great lube chgart lubing, I felt the gun was good to go from a technical standpoint, now would it just go bang every time. The little fokker made a believer out of me. It went bang every time, it shot great. Just no recoil at all, a full mag of corbon ppowerball went out the barrel with no issues. If I can find some american brand 380 fjmj ammo reasonable I will buy some and do it again but for me, I do feel good about this little gun now, although it will still sit on the mantel... Nice gun when the work as designed . Mine is one of the first 250 made, no frame changes but oonce gback for lite strikes early on. hose xs big dots sights are just awesome on this little gun..
WEll boys and girls, just came back from the second range outing with my new P380. It eat up another 50 rounds of SB FMJ and another off brand ofFMJ with out a hitch. It didn't matter if I used the slide stop or hand racked overhand or sling shot methods. The accuracy was awsome even with rapid fire at 7 yards combat on a reduced sillywett. I managed to cluster about a 3" groupings just a tad low all in the center.
I even fedd it two mags of Gold Dots and it shot awsome, however the only way to load the first round wih a fully stoked magazine was with a vigorous sling shot method. The Hornady Critical Defense loads did quite well both loading and grouping as well. All in all a very satisfactory second trip.
PS: My PM45 is just an awsome piece. Those 200 grain +P Gold Dots are a hot load but group well enough when I do my part. It is more challanging to shoot quick follow up shots with this pistol and load due to the recoil and recovery. Y'all have a good evenning.

has anyone shot tht steel cased TUL amm in the 380 kahrs??? our local wal mart just got somein and I am tempte dto buy a box to try out as it is 5 bucks cheaper than any other american range fodder. I probably out to leave that sh-t ammo alone expecially inthe P380. I think my K9 will eat anything

Maybe that's a good thing? I mean, if one was in the works, why would they tell a random customer that it was, in fact, coming out?
That's how crazy interwebz rumors start
Just sayin.
I recently was asked to compared my Kahr P380 (DLC, CT, Big dot sights) to my well used Keltec P3AT. I used the terms like comparing a Cadillac to a Cavilier. Sure both will get you there, just one has WAY more class.
I use Tulammo sometimes for practice (only) as it will occasionally FTF but then I practice clearing the jam and moving on. Not a bad thing for anyone who totes a gun.

Would something like this work:
http://kartalk.pccomps.com/P64.jpg
It's a Polish 9x18 (makarov) with 2 6 shot mags and a holster for $200 from:
http://www.classicfirearms.co/firearms.htm
I think the makarov is softer shooting than the 9x19 Lugar cartridge.
Price isn't bad. I'd want to fire a couple hundred rounds out of it and thouroughly check it out before I gave it to my wife for defensive use.
