Thunder71 is correct, that's one I found last year. I picked it brought it home, stood it up in our garden, took the picture then ate it. They are very good, just a lite coat of seasoned flour and fry in butter.

those mushrooms willbe all over Indiaa woods shortly with some mild rain and then some good ol sunshine. They sell um for big bucks a pound when they areplentiful. There is a nack to finding them and os tof the time is means trespassing on other peoples property. People tend to think they ca pullup anywhgere during "roon" season and go into anyone woods. Lots of issues with "roon" hunters to.

If u never ate um, u are missing out on some very great seasonal sponges.I see alot of them around my area in the 6" range. another name used is PECKERHEADESj. I think woman are better "roon" hunters as they seem to know a good peckerhead whent hey see one!! Just sayin.

As I don't know enough about different types of wild mushrooms, I'll leave them be. I'm ok with a good many wild edible, but 'shrooms I leave alone. Too much that can go wrong, and with my luck it would.

It tastes like a dirty bacteria spore. IMO butter doesnt help much. We eat them when we camp/hunt this time of year but only because they are out there. I have friends that raid our farm every year and come out with laundry baskets full and they love em. Its all your personal taste really. (they say the best ones grow near the cow sh**) But we usually have a big problem with ignorant people thinking everything with grass is public land. They only make that mistake once

Oh don't I know it. I'm still picking buckshot and rock salt out of my backside. Good idea staggering your loads like that. Kind of tough sitting all the time though.
