I am new to this forum so any help would be greatly appreciated. i dont know if there is any other threads like this but just wanting to check. i have a CW40 and i am having issues with the mag dropping out after one or two rounds fired what would cause that??? a gun smith looked at it and said it may need the mag release and spring, does this usually fix the issue if so i am going to buy them. thank you for the help!

You might be inadvertently pushing the mag release with your thumb. Try shooting left handed to see if that stops the issue.

Is the gun under warranty? If so, contact Kahr.

Welcome to the forums:)

I haven't seen very many reports of the CW40 (or CW9) dropping magazines.
Do you have more than one magazine? If so, does the problem occur with different mags? If it does then I would suspect the catch and/or spring.
If you have only one mag, inspect it for wear/damage (especially around or to the latch window). If it looks good, then the latch and/or spring are probable culprits.
The two parts would be under $20 + s/h from Kahr http://www.kahr.com/Parts/Kahr-CW40.asp, but you might want to contact customer service first.

FWIW, I suspect the mag follower in my CW45 magazines contributed to it dropping mags (on the next to last round): http://kahrtalk.com/showpost.php?p=15667&postcount=2

i havent had it happen on my cw40 but i have a different gun that did that, dropped after every shot, mag release was stripped, i replaced it and never happened again. it was from inserting mag without holding the mag release, i do hold the mag release on my kahr just as habit now.
