Hey all! I had me a K9 a number of years ago, sold it as I thought the weight and size of the piece didn't match up. Found a smoking deal for a brand new P9 with a 7 AND 8 round mag with Meprolights that I couldn't pass up, and I liked the weight a whole lot better. It needs a holster, but I can't find exactly what I want.

I prefer leather. I have a kydex holster for my M&P, but found it be really uncomfortable. I did not like it at all. This is what I'd like:

-leather
-has side guard/tongue to protect body from gun and vice versa
-tension screw
-open top
-reinforced mouth
-OWB carry

The High Noon Slide Guard is about the closest thing I found, but it has no reinforced mouth. For those with similar leather skins, have you found the mouth of the holster collapsing through use or wear an issue?

The mouth collapsing is more of a problem with IWB. If you're going to carry OWB, should be less of an issue because your belt is behind the holster.

You might find kydex way more comfortable with the smaller gun. I run a p9 in a comptac infidel that is super comfortable and the infidel is probably middle of the road in iwb kydex bulkiness. I am eagerly awaiting the arrival of a new silent thunder owb, but folks speak highly of their iwb models too.

pj holsters seem to be the thinnest and most comfortable iwb kydex per folks around here...never tried one myself, but also one to consider.

You might try Don Hume holsters. Their H721 O.T may fit most of your needs and it's pretty reasonably priced to. I use one of their JIT Slides for my P9 and I love it.

Try the link below to see if will work for you. If not, just go to their website and look up the model number above. No hold open but I think everything else would work for you.

Good luck on your quest. Can't tell you how many holsters I've tried and put in the grab bag at home. Ought to sell them one day if I was smart. :D
