My kahr getting engraved. Not done yet but I couldn't wait any longer and had to post pics. Before everybody starts dogging on the spending $1000 on a $500 gun idea... I'd like to say it only cost $400 for both sides of the slide and 2 sections on the top.

Just a thought - more practial than anything -
Less... much less on the top. A few little scrolls ahead of the rear sight.
More on the sides for the same money. More and tighter.

I think you'll find that a more classic, and practical application of the graver.

I can remember back when the kel tec was about the only game ihn town and I had a 380 kt. I had the slide finsihed in a stanless like finish and then had it engraved and ported. Damn it looke3d cool; Less than 100 rounds after I had all this done the recoil springs shot right out the front of the slideas that hole was counter drileld to deep and the recoil sprngs just worked right out the front. Slide ruine.d Kel tec replaced it witha blued slide, nothig more, . I was out a bunch over that ventrue. NEVER AGAIN on any gun that I intend to shoot and carry.

I think it's drop dead gorgeous. I'd love to do something like that to my PM45.

What price love and guns.

I much prefer stainless to DLC anyhow and you've now got a one of a kind pistol there. With something that pretty I'd not want a holster, I'd just carry it around in my hand so I could show it off. I love it.

I'm jealous. I want, I want..............................

Any members out there do this kind of work?

Well I kind of lied (or April fools)... I did the work myself but was just curious what people would say about the price because honestly I don't know what this kind of thing would cost. I would be happy to do anybody else's gun. And right now I would do really cheap just to get more practice. And here's the kicker nobody has brought up yet.... It's machine engraved not hand. I understand you loose the whole "art" part of it but here's what machine means cheaper, faster and the same results everytime. Artwork is easily changed and I can email you the full proof before cutting into it. While yes this is my first gun it doesn't mean that I'm new to this. I own a jewelry store and I've done thousands of things in other objects but I just recently got the idea (and realized there is a large market) to start doing guns. Suggestions comments orders are welcomed....

I'm no expert at engraving cost but I think 400 would seem darn reasonable but I'll wait for others who may have been there.

Being born on the side of the tracks I was born on we never really considered such beautiful stuff such as this.

I think we need to talk. A slide can ship with no hassles.

Would a PM45 being contoured muddy the waters on the machine engraving deal?

It's not perfectly flat and not as square as the 40's and 9's but has a radius on top.

I'm look for Peter as we speak so I can rob him to pay you. Define cheap.

And pencil me in #1 before these other guys push me to 136.

Or I guess I could send it to Jocko.

I would be a better bet as all my work woud be hand done and certainly one of a kind. Doesn't matter to me if u melt the slide or not, the end result would be the same. If u think Picasso was good u should see my work. I am presently laying out two styles for u to choose from ol great onej.. The ol fish head would be the easiest to do but I think I can do the horse head to but I would have to start one side of the slide and work over the top to the other side but I would like to try it on yours first before i go public . Just saying, I would think $400 would be about the right price to This fella's work is awesome but it would not compare to mine. My time is limited to as u well know I am a busy man during the summer. Just sayin!!

My machine would be a harbor freight dremel model 20098, similar to a real dremel but belt driven, weighs 38#. bought the entire set up for $9.95. anxious to try it out. I recently did a fella's honder goldwing, whittled it down to look like a HD fatboy. The guy was not happy, so I did not charge him.:blah:

That would be a cool tribute so I shall concede numero uno to you downtown. The money bucket has a hole in it apparently so might be a spell for me anyhow.
I thought I had a freebie going with Jocko and his 38# belt driven dremel but now he wants to jab me 400 bucks.

I only got one tooth left in front but I feel like it just got kicked out but that's ok, one less thing to worry over.

naw never post photos u can ask the members that, and also ur new here, so trust me ol jocko is full of sh-t alot to. I can't engrave a mud pie let alone a gun but I like to have fun on this fourm. Good engravers though are not cheap but cheap engravers are.

In 1974 I had an unknown carver by the name of Mike Dubber (goggle him up now) anyway he was out of nam and looking for some worki and a friend of mine said he is a hell of an engraver, so I gave my friend my Model 60 and told him to turn Mike loose on it and let himdo what ever he wants. Well about 2 months later I got it back and 99% of the gun is totallyu cut engraved, (no inlay work back then from him)_. It might look gaugdy to some but it is super nice work. He has since went on to be one of the primeir engravers in the world, done somne work for Swatrskoff and Bush Sr. He is retired now and tqaches engraving. I never meet the man but about a year ago I dropped him a line a she retired in Evansville, Ind, about 125 miles from my home andI ran my post tohim and as if he remembered my gun and sure enough he did, and he told me that he charged me 50$ back then, as he was just beginning. his initials are engrved in the Model 60 crane MD74.. My my how time flys.. I wish I cold post a nice photos shoot of thi9s gun but sorrty I can't. it truly is alot of cut engraving that is for sure.

Those Herretts stocks u refinised for me are on that gun. The pink finish u put on those grips kinda really sets this gun off as if it needed more to do that, but I have u to thank for that

I do trust u great one, it just that my dogs doesn't trust u, and a dog is mans best friend. If u do not think tha tis true, then lock ur dog and wife or girl friend in the trunk of ur car and two hours later open the trunk and see which one is really glad to see u!!! Just say, course if by chance u have a wife that is a real "dog" then my point is MUTE. Just sayin
