After futzing with my 7 round mags to get them to feed reliably, doing the slingshot mod and the mag release mod, I finally got my SD ammo. After reading reports of gold dots not feeding well, I took my little baby to the range today with some trepidation. Fired three mags each of Federal 124gr HST and Speer Gold Dot 124gr, as well as a 50 round box of Winchester NATO 9mm.
Not one failure. She performed perfectly. Now I feel this little beauty is finally trustworthy enough to carry for personal protection.
Interestingly, I decided to test different springs in the 7 round mags. I got some Wolff 7 round +5% springs and a 6 round +5%. I put the 7round +5% in one 7 round mag, and the 6 round +5% in the other 7 round mag to see if there was any difference. They both fed perfectly. It would appear to me that the spring does not really play much part in the 7 round mag failures. Seems the follower was the lone culprit.
