After 4 weeks, my P40 Covert is once again home. I cant wait to get it to the range for a test drive. The history is: I had a PM40 that I sold for the "Covert". My thoughts were, short grip/longer barrel , a perfect EDC... except it would not cycle a full mag without at least 2 nose dives. Sent it to the factory (after a couple of home repairs attempts) and they
1. replaced the slide
2. replaced the barrel
3. replaced the recoil rod
4. fitted the frame for the new barrel
5. did something to the take down pin (i'm not sure what)

I dont know what "peening" is, but they blamed the problems on it...

Now as I was about to have a heart attach when they told me the repairs.... it was all done as a warranty repair. I have basically a new gun except for the grip and trigger mechanism. If this runs like I hope it will... this restores my faith in Kahr and good customer service!
\I will post follow up after the range test tomorrow.

Wow! Not the original owner, and that gun is how old? Two thumbs up for Kahr standing behind their products! :cheer2::cheer2:

I used to have a PM9... but sold that to my daughter's boyfriend, who is also the son of my best friend. (At least she is well protected now!)

Then, wanting another Kahr, but something "just a little different" (as I also have a P380), I found a nice used P40 Covert that I just LOVE!

It is awesome!!!

Like you, I like the extra barrel length and the muzzle weight/control I feel it adds -- and the "extra THUMP" from the larger 40 is very comforting too!

Yeah, I know, it's not as cheap to shoot as the 9mm, but it's not a "target gun" anyhow, so I'll blast more with those anyhow. I'll shoot this one enough as it is.

Hope yours runs well for you now!

All I can say is "WOW!!"
My trip to the range found this to be the gun I had hoped it would be. 50 flawless rounds down range without a single hiccup. The grouping was good, just a bit to the left, but the recoil was tame... I think my new EDC is this P40 covert.
My sincere appreciation to the customer service staff & gunsmiths at Kahr. I am a very happy customer!!!

Hey Bufford. Congrats on the Covert. She sure is sweet lookin'. Can you clarify if you bought it used? If so, how did you get them to cover the repairs?

I DID buy it used. Well, I had talked to the guys in tech support several times and had bought a slide stop spring (not a fix) and a recoil spring (not a fix) so I finally had to send it in. Never asked how much it would be, just said I need it to run right.... they did all the work and never asked me for a penny. They even paid the return shipping.
The only thing I could think was there was a significant problem since you literally could not get more than one clean feed to a magazine, if you got that. If it was an original issue they might have figured it was their issue after all. That is pure speculation, but I am happy with the outcome, even if it did take 4 weeks at the factory to resolve.

Congratulations, Bufford. It's nice to see Kahr CS do good work like this... without charge, too. My full-sized P40 is probably a little harder to CCW than my PM45, but I like the full-sized grip. Even Mag-na-ported, it's still feisty! It's my first .40... seemed like a good deal with the porting... was considering K40 and porting.
