Have a buddy who had his PM45 fall out while riding his Motorcycle, the whole holster actually,The butt end of the pistol is ground up pretty good,The magazine is functional but needs a new base plate.
Question is :Can we just send in the frame and get another replacement frame with his old serial numbers re-attached or get a new frame ?Hard to believe you would have to part the gun out and just buy a new one over frame damage.Buddys hoping I can get an answer.

I doubt you can have the old serial number put into a new frame, but it's worth a call to Kahr.

They would probably want the whole gun and replace whatever they thought it needed. My PM45 frame was replaced under warranty because it became an magazine destroyer... duplicated by Kahr ... and I got a new frame and a letter stating that Kahr had taken possession of the old frame and that I had a new serial number.

You likely need to send in the entire pistol. Kahr wont transfer serial numbers.

Not likely that Kahr would do it under warranty. Might cost less than a new gun. Check with them and see.

You might be surprised though. I agree on everything else, they won't transfer the serial number, they most likely will need the whole gun, that would be a good thing so they can function check and replace everything that needs it.
I'd not be the least bit surprise if they don't just replace it or at least make him a very good deal even though it's certainly not Kahrs fault.

Kahr won't send the gun with a new serial number back to the owner. It will have to go through an FFL dealer and the same documentation as a new gun.

all the guys stated is dead on. The serial numbe ris on the frame, it cannot be duplicated again. Kahr can sell him a new frame but it will have to go througth a ffl dealer, he can keep his frame he has now as it will get him no value by sending it back to kahr either.Unless he just has to, IMO buy a new mag butt plate and live with it, and then buy an entire new gun and have two.:behindsofa:

I don't know if they would use any of the old frame's parts to complete the new frame. When my frame was replaced there was no parts list... just new frame, but if your having to buy the new frame, maybe there will be the cost of the parts as well... something to ask about.

I don't think Kahr sells frames unless they swap them out at the factory.

u might be right on that to. makes sense . I wll check that out though.
Here is my thoughts on it for what it is worth. under warranty, surely kahr will want the frame back and will destroy it and issue a new frame with different serial umber and therefore have to be registered with a ffl dealer, but in this case it is not a warranty thin but a damaged frame that still works but looks like sh-t but he paid for it and now is wanting to BUY a new frame which will have a new serial umber and have to be registered with a ffl dealer. I would think he should be able to keep his existing frame as it is registered and not a replacement by kahr factory as a warranty item. Just sayin. I think it akes sesne but more than likely it won't work that way.
OK HEREIS THE ANSWER I GOT BACK
Good morning. Thanks for the question. We do not sell any serialized
products. Any frame replacement would have to be done at the factory. I
hope this information helps.:behindsofa:
