Now I know that I wrote BULK - I don't mean 100K rounds.
I also don't want the super expensive HD rounds I normaly carry.

Just a good clean hollow point round that works for my PM9/G26/Sig P226/P228. I figure if my PM9 will eat it - all my other nines will as well.
I will probably split this with two friends.

I'm going to call these "just in case" rounds. Just in case 2012 turns out to be the real thing or whatever else is around the corner!

So where is the best place and what round should I order?

If there is a thread on this please direct me to it.

The Mayan calender didn't take into effect a "leap year" so the Mayan December 21st, 2012 has already passed. Leap year is on the gregorian calender. Sorry, but you still pose a great question, Im interested to see who has experience buying in bulk like this.

you don't want a hundred thousand? What does bulk mean to you? 9mm Hollowpoints are tough to find surplus or crated etc..

This stuff is great, super cheap:

Not sure where you are looking, but ......
* If our ammo fails to fire, we will give you a free box of 50 rounds (or 20 for .308 and 10 for 50 BMG) or refund your costs, including shipping (if any).

Good to hear SP - my wife will glad to hear that.

The military buys rounds by the brazillian! They must have done their research. What do they buy?

Aguilla also makes Hollowpoints that can be had for around $10 a box when/if you can find them!

I like to pick up a box of the WWB 147 gr JHP or Rem UMC 115 gr JHP here and there at WM.
SG has pretty good prices...

Hm, I was unaware that silver bear made a 145gr HP. That's the best of the russian steel cased stuff, IMHO. I will be buying a bunch of that. Ain't gonna be reloading in the popaclypse.

p.s. I bought the last 6 they had in stock  Just enough to stack up 10 uzi mags for the man on the go. Well, I Guess I need one more box since they are 32rd mags.

Thebulletworks.net has .40 180 gr HP for $250/1000 and .45 230 gr for $300/1000. These are IDPA low recoil reloads. I have found them to be reliable and they will work with you.

To the best of my admittedly limited knowldge, .40 or .45 will not work very well in a PM or CM9.

From most of the ammo tests I've read out there, the budget JHP are only going to perform so-so, if at all, for the purposes of a JHP. It's almost like they might as well be a FMJ round in some cases.

Still, my 'backup' JHP round are the WWB 147gr JHP from Walmart. At $20 a box, I can pick up a couple a week to build up w/o buying in bulk and w/o breaking the bank in one shot.

But, you can get them online for a few bucks less in bulk.

I've also considered buying some of the Federal, which SG has in stock.

Have to think there isn't much difference at this price point on a JHP.

Remington UMC 115gr JHP(white/green box) about $25 for 100rnd box at Wallyworld. Feed great and are a pretty good self defense round according to all the usual sources. A little bit of extra muzzle flash but the are light recoiling to me. I am carrying them daily even though i have all of the high priced stuff as well. I just know these feed great and that is most important to me.

If your reloading, the Winchester "OSM" bullet is on sale this month at MidwayUSA. Its not the best expanding bullet, but, it matches the ballistics of the other Winchester RANGER-T fairly well.

SGAmmo still has the 147gr Federal white box for reasonable prices.

Next up would be the steel cased stuff from overseas. YMMV

Been looking all over the PM9 page on rounds. After reading a LOT it looks like the best grain for the PM9 is 124.
Ranger T/Hornady CD & Fed HST seem to have the least problems.
Buying 500 rds of these is expensive!

SG has two FMJ that are cheap.
http://www.sgammo.com/product/winchester/500-rd-case-9mm-nato-124gr-p-winchester-mil-spec-ammo-q4318
and
http://www.sgammo.com/product/winchester/500rd-9mm-nato-winchester-ranger-124gr-p-ra9124n-ammo
What is the dif between the two?

I guess going with my "just in case" FMJ would be the choice.
Nobody seems to have a problem with FTF using FMJ.

Cheap FMJ or JHP?

I have been told many times the kahrs are kahr tested with 124 grain ammo, not that it means a whole lot but just sayin.
