How many of you use it? I found out about it a couple years ago and have been using it ever since with great results.

I think thats the same stuff that used to be called Sheath. I use it frequently especially on guns stored.
I've been using more Du-Lite / Kwikseal since Brownells started carrying it. Probably similar stuff. Seems to work real good.

Been using Eezox and Mil-Comm TW-25 grease since I got my PM9's and guns are clean, lubed, and firing like champions.

The guy that designed FP10 is the one who makes Weaponshield. You can email gcfennell@steelshieldtech.com and get a free sample. I didn't know if he was still doing that or not but after some quick google work it seems he is. Just thought I'd pass that on, free is always nice :D

I got the free sample of Weaponshield and didn't care for it much. It is thick and I found it almost gummy when cleaning. It may or not be a good product, but I prefer an oil that flows into tight spots and cleans out easily.
That said, I use TW25, applied lightly, on exposed surfaces. And Gunzilla where I want it to flow into tight spots.

hahaha. ditto. but then i remember what some people out there are using and feel much better. I also use S&W bore cleaner. Seems to gel up in the riflings a little better before brushed

I have been using EWL (extreme weapons lube, I think) on the slide rails only and remington oil else where And when we are shooting outside in the cold I only use very very thin oil. The cold seems to thicken up anything else.

Didn't know that. I switched from Militec-1 to FP10 last year because I heard good things about it, and I got tired of dragging out the hairdryer for the Militec. I also got the free sample of WS about the same time, but haven't used it yet. I do like the applicator though.

Before I became a user of Eezox, I used weaponshield on my handguns and I still do on my rifles. It is great stuff!! I went thru several containers of it and I never found it getting thick or gummy. Maybe those who did got a bad batch or something. That said, now it is T-25 on the rails, the metal inserts in the frame, and on the underside of the slide where the barrel hood contacts and Eezox everywhere else. Personally, I found this to be the best combination and I'd not use anything else.

Yep! I did the same thing, probably around three years ago. Have since purchased a large bottle and continue to use it on my Kahrs and 1911's.
It works well and has no objectionable odor (according to my wife).
The odor thing is important if you like being happily married, as well as having good running guns. ;)
A little Wilson Combat or Shooter's Choice grease also comes in handy for the high stress areas.

Can't say I have used Weaponshield. I used to use Hopps, but I switched to LSA when I I was in the military. I can say that the M-16s that were issued to me saw some rough conditions and never rusted.

Not meaning to stir up a hornet's nest of controversy and flames, I'd like to offer this, from a professional standpoint. If you are happy using grease instead of a liquid lubricant with exceptional extreme pressure and anti-wear characteristics, then by all means, do so.
There are however, reasons for using and not using grease, all of which are defined by the object being lubricated, and if oil is impractical due to various reasons, such as being able to keep the oil in a confined area without it running out, or harsh environmental conditions that would benefit the use of grease rather than oil.
In lubrication theory and practice, one thing is for certain...
Oil is always more desireable than grease, as grease contains thickeners that are evolved from various sources (Lithium, Aluminum, Calcium, Clay (Bentone), Sodium, Poly-Urea, and others) and induce high viscosity (which is "fluid and semi-fluid friction") which in turn is in opposition to free flow and movement.
The definition of grease, from the National Lubricating Grease Institute's Glossary of Lubricating terms:
Grease
Quote:
A lubricant composed of an oil, or oils, thickened with a soap, or other thickener, to a semi-solid or to a solid consistency
Oil vs. Grease
There are basically two types of lubricants—oil and grease. Oil has two components: base oil and additives. The base oil is either synthetic or petroleum. Additives are blended with the base oil to give the oil certain properties such as corrosion resistance or oxidation inhibition. Metals lubricated with oil will operate faster because oil is thinner and has less resistance than grease. However, oil does not last as long as grease, so your moving parts will require more frequent lubrication.
Grease has three components: base oil, thickener, and additives. Note that oil and grease both share the components of base oil and additives. The difference between an oil and grease is that grease has a thickener. The thickener makes grease possible to retain in the areas that normally could not hold oil. Since grease is thicker than oil, it also has greater resistance, which means slower cycling and operation, especially in cooler or colder climates.
Most everyone knows that I manufacture Firepower FP-10 CLP for weapons and weapons systems. I also manufacture a #2 NLGI Lithium Complex Extreme Pressure Grease that is second to none in it's high temp abilities (550 deg F dropping point), and anti-wear, load carrying capacities (60+ on Timken OK Load, and 78 LWI-500kg weld point on the 4 Ball EP Weld Test). I market it strictly for "wet can" suppressors, barrel threads, choke tubes, and a long term storage "coating" grease. I would not, and do not, advocate it for use on auto loading pistols, wheelguns, or rifle actions, for one simple reason. It will induce friction by viscosity into the system, which is what we don't want. This added "thickness" may work fine for you if you are in a clean and hot climate, but if the temperature drops significantly, or dirt/dust/contaminants get in the mix to interfere with the tolerences of your weapon, you may find yourself up the preverbial "fecal waterway, with no means of navigation".
The only time grease is recommended on the action of a weapon, is when it is used on heavy, high cycling/highly heated automatic weaponry such as SAWs (M-240/M249s) that FN produces in Columbia, South Carolina. I know this, as FN has bought PL-10 from MPC since 1996 for that very usage.
I hope this helps.
Respectfully and with best regards,
George

Wow! Thanks George for your very informative post. I might just rethink my use of TW25B that I currently use on the frame rails, metal inserts on the frame, barrel hood, and underside of the slide. I used to use only Eezox but added the synthetic grease assuming I'd get better protection of these high contact areas.

I need to go over cleaning a gun with mine, I think she has the general idea but need to make sure. Btw, last time I got booted out was because I was about to clean my 91/30 in the kitchen while she was cooking supper. Pork chops and hoppe's #9, Mmm Mmm good!

Since the cleaning usually takes place on the patio or the garage, it's usually a good excuse to fire up a good cigar, pour a dram of Scotlands finest and enjoy the experience.

Sent the email asking for a sample on the 10th, and got my sample in the mail today the 13th. Thats awesome for something a company doesnt even have to do. I love the pen type applicator, with the fine tip, should make it super easy to get into any place needed. Cant wait to try it out, and see how weaponshield and the cm9 get along!

I'm still stuck on Militec-1. Used it in a dry, sandy place far away from the good ol' USofA a few years back. Break in with it was easy and did not have to use CLP to keep things "wet". Those who ran wet found out that wasn't a good thing in the least. Until I find something better, I'll stick with it.
And I don't use a hair dryer, I use a heat gun and haven't had a single lube problem with more than a few firearms since.
Oh, no plastic or poly here, all steel frames.

Well I ran out of LSA and so has my local Military surplus store. All they have left are quarts of LAW. I will be heading to my LGS tomorrow to see if they carry Weapon Shield. If they don't have it I guess I'll have to try something else. I have always cleaned my firearms with Hoppes solvent first and lube with LSA to finish. This method has always given me good results even the guns that I own with spotty or poor reps have preformed well. I'm kind of if it's not broke don't fix it person so I'm a little POed about my supply drying up.

You could always buy it online for $9.95 per quart (http://e-sarcoinc.com/lsalubricant1quart.aspx) . . . no idea what shipping costs, sorry.

I use Weapon Shield (formerly FP-10). The Inventor, George Fennell is a nice fellow to talk with and his place of business is a few miles from my house. They used to be located in Butler PA but moved to Bethel Park PA, a suburb of Pittsburgh.I buy mine from a dealer at the gunshows. The clp has a pleasant odor and the grease works well too. tom. :)
