I just picked up the CW45 I ordered from my LGS yesterday. It looks and feels terrific. The trigger is long, but very smooth. I have a Ruger LCP & LC9, but the Kahr's trigger puts both of them to shame. I also have a 1911 with a nice trigger pull, but the CW45 has a completely different feel. I can't wait to take it to the range and try her out.
Besides giving it a good overall cleaning, is there anything else I should do prior to taking it to the range?

Thanks in advance for your information.

There is a New Kahr Preparation thread in the technical section, as well as a lubrication guide. Both worth reviewing . . .

The preparation thread recommends racking the slide before you shoot it, but I have never bothered with any of the three new Kahrs I have purchased and all turned out just fine.

If you are coming from the Glock world where very little lubrication is recommended, add a little extra to your Kahr, especially at first.

Otherwise . . . enjoy your new pistol and Welcome to the forum. :D

There are 2 stickies here http://kahrtalk.com/forumdisplay.php?f=27. 1) Lube Diagram 2) Proper Prep. You should look at both.

Thanks for the info. I am not from the glock world, but I have been using CLP to clean and lube. In addition I use Weapons Shield lube on most of the points identified in the Kahr Lube Guide. I think CLP does a good job of cleaning if you keep up with it. I believe in cleaning every time I shoot any on my pistols and rifles.
My AR15 I run rather wet, but my pistols I just run lightly lubed.

+1 . . . and it appears we both run similar lubrication levels in the weapons you have mentioned. I am confident you will continue to enjoy success. :)

Whenever I shoot my CW45, the back corner of the frame rubs a little hole in my hide on the 1st thumb knuckle joint next to the finger web.

Have been too lazy to get a range glove, so I'll remedy it with a bandaid before shootin' next time.

Happens also to me when I put few hundred rounds through my P45. I'm still waiting to shoot it after I installed the limbsaver.

My wife and I both experienced a soreness to our hands after shooting her new CW9. I took a puncture proof bicycle tube and slipped a piece over the grip like a sock. The extra thickness of the pp tube gives a cushion and we like shooting it now much better.

Hope this helps.;)

If you want to go the bicycle tire route.....go to a bike shop and ask them for a used tube. Save you some money to put forward to the 45 rounds that you will be buying :)

What spot on the gun is causing the wound in the thumb?

You don't want to have to put a band aid on everytime you shoot or wear a glove neither.

Maybe shoot a picture of your grip on the gun. Maybe there's something we can round off, smooth out or remedy in some manner.

I just ordered my CW45 today with a spare 7 round mag. In two days I'll have it in my hot Little hands. $326.00+ tax I couldn't pass it up. I'm excited. I am from the Glock world so I will lube it up a little better where do you find the recommendations about racking the slide before it is actually shot?

That's a really great price. I have just recieved my 7 rd flat bottom magazine for a 45 comander. I will have to notch it so the magazine will lock in place, but should work fine.

That is the Proper prep thread. There is also the Kahr Lube Diagram (http://kahrtalk.com/also). These and other informative stickies are at the top of the Kahr-Tech (http://kahrtalk.com/forumdisplay.php?f=27) section.

If you haven't gone through the break-in period yet, when you store your pistol leave the slide locked back. When you take it out of storage lube the guide rod with a very light coat of CLP (or whichever gun lube you desire, i'm in the military so I use what I know works) and pull on the slide until you get sick of doing it.

Thanks for the tip. I haven't taken to the range yet. I'm waiting for my 1911 comander mags so I cam modify them and test them all out at once.
That should be next week. I plan on shootong 200+ rounds. I will have 5 magazines to check out as well as the pistol itself.
