Too bad it has to get a running start. It would be awesome in a traffic jam if it could go straight up.

Yeah, gyrocopters don't do vertical takeoffs without something to spin the blades. I think there are some that use a small motor to spin up the blade for lift faster, but maybe not vertical takeoff from a standstill.

The folding propeller was neat and the "car" did zip about. I want something like the one in Back to the Future.

Me too! This one is still pretty cool though.

I was surprised to see so many flying cars in You Tube. I thought it was still way out there but there are a few decent looking designs. The Gyro could easily take off from a country private road and land near work. I like it.

Many years ago I was working on the phone lines in the country and every morning a guy would climb into his Piper Cub in his pasture. The sheep would move off the center portion and the same in the afternoon when he mads a circuit before landing. Turned out he worked at a Caterpillar distributor who had a normal runway on their property. Made for a quick commute.

Too bad it is so impractical and expensive.

As a private pilot, I'm not sure I want too many of these things buzzing around. I hope their ceiling is pretty low so I can get above them. I wonder if the FAA will wash their hands of these like they did with ultralights - then the aircraft and the 'pilots ?' would be completely unregulated.

It is unpressurized so 10,000 is the common sense upper limit. All the FAR's require is a Sport Pilot license. Due to cost I serious doubt there will be any hazard to navigation.

I'm not certain, but a think a sport license limits you to 10,000 feet anyway. I'm not rotary wing qualified, but I have taken the cyclic and collective to hand a few times. I doubt that a non powered rotor type craft, ie gyrocopter, could reach 10,000. This is nearing the limit of most commercial helos except some high powered turbine craft. Maximum hover altitude is even lower.

Their web site said 4K is the norm for that aircraft as it allows unrestricted flight in VFR. If you have 500' near home and work it might be a good commuter. However I'd be cautious about a few hundred of them jamming over LA at commute time. In reality I suspect all air over LA is controlled and regulated to death.

As I think of driving around St. Louis (worst drivers in the country), it's kind of scary to imagine all the idiots flying around!

I don't remember bad drivers there. I did see this. I took this picture on the train leaving Busch Stadium on the train. Do you see what I saw?

Well, the lady standing on the right has loose shoelaces, there's a nickle laying in the middle of the isle, 2 guys way up front are getting chummy, and oh yes B.D. Cooper is still wearing his parachute. I guess he's about to hijack the train and bail out soon.

Sure looks like DB Cooper to me! And is that Carl Edwards at the end, on the right? Also, someone needs to tell that guy white socks don't look right with black shoes.....

You must be in that picture.

Do those trains have a name besides train?

They're called "The Metro".

I get ripped on about posting a music thread in the general discussion section
cause it's not Kahr related.

But a flying car is fine???

General is GENERAL.

Cars, Girls, TV, Movies.
It's all good right here.

I'm just saying
