Actual PM45 Experiences

I would like to know the experiences of those who own or have owned a PM45. I really like the size of the gun and like the 45 Auto loads. I have an M&P45c, but the PM45 seems like it would be much easier to hide.

Mine is great. I love shooting it and carrying it. Very accurate (I posted a target in a other thread) and recoil is not an issue. I shoot it better than
my PM9.

Mine is a keeper as well. It boldly goes along when none of my other 45's will go which isn't often.

Its very manageable to shoot and the fact that it will run with my 1911 mags is a huge bonus.

I also have an M&P 45C. It was a good pistol right out of the box. The addition of an Apex Tactical hard sear and ultimate striker block have made it a fantastic pistol.

I've owned many different Kahr models over the years, including the PM45. I liked it very much, however couldn't get over being consistently (as in every shot) assaulted in the face and forehead by ejected shell casings. I was extremely disappointed as I really liked everything else about the pistol. My first thought was that it was obviously me, however others who took the opportunity to shoot it came away with the same experience. I've never experienced this with my PM9, M&P 9C, Kimber Ultra CDP II or M&P 45C.

I don't contribute much to this board, but I do check in almost daily and gain quite a bit from some of the members here who have a wealth of knowledge and experience to share. I'm sure several others will chime in shortly with their experiences and be able to offer some positive insight.

As for me, I still longingly ogle the PM45 on my regular visits to the LGS. I'm just somewhat "gun shy" about getting another one based upon my previous experience.

To answer the previous two posters here...the forehead dotting with empty cases goes away as you shoot that PM45 in. Mine did it initially...you have to get a firm grip and lock your dang wrist othersise you will get weak extractions which typically hit you on your forehead. Ax for pocket carrying the answer could be yes & no. Larger pockets or if the jean are really tight you can get by with pocket carry, other wise go to a beely bad type or IWB holster and call it done. That old "Thinderware" holster does work well as a front or appendix position holster.

Hey BAWANNA how do you get colt 1911 magazines to work in our PM45's....don't you have to modify the 1911 mags? Mine don't seem to want to lock in.

Mine was good right out of the box. Unfortunately, it was stolen a year later. It's a little large for pants pocket carry, but for me, it worked fine in an inside jacket pocket. It was secure and easily accessible.

Apparently the planets are aligned on mine. My 47D Wilson 8rd mags work and function perfectly without modification. They lock on empty and do everything you want. The Officer size Wilson mags no so much. They usually feed, but sometimes don't lock on empty. I suspect mag spring pressure as the follower and everything else is exactly the same.

Others here have tried the same combo and it didn't work. I even sent one of my mags to a guy to try and it didn't work in his.

GB, Wynn and a few others have modified various other brands of mags and made them work acceptably.

For me it's a nice plus but it is a backup so not real critical but right handy.

I just got my PM45 a week ago with the black slide. I have only put 150 rounds through it and no problems. No failure to feeds and only a few ejections hit me in the forehead. Most of my spent cases were 15 feet behind me over my right shoulder. Recoil is very manageable and I love the small size. I'm 6' 280lbs and I can get my middle, ring, and little finger around the grip. Accuracy is great as well, especially for a 3" barrel. If you're looking for the most knock down power in the smallest frame, this is the gun. Just do it! You won't be sorry.

Great pistols - I have two... had a problem with one, Kahr corrected it FAST and perfectly (abnormal wear). I'm good to go. Sometimes the PM9 rides with me.

Other than weirdo reloads - the PM45's have run factory and ok reloads, even lead, perfectly after brief break in (a few magazines worth to get 'em smooth, two boxes to get 'em flawless). YMMV

I usually only pocket carry in cargo pants/shorts. The PM45 fits but not comfortably. Pocket carry is for the PM9 or P238.

Does anyone know why Kahr does not offer a flat base plate for their pm45?

The extra plastic appears to add an unneeded .3 inch........ Which makes it too big for pocket carry
