View Full Version : P9...long fingers need help
Heip please. I'm trying hard to love my P9. It's everything I've ever wanted in a carry pistol. Here's my problem. My trigger finger is so long that when I draw quickly I end up inserting my long trigger finger in past the second joint. Then when I pull back on the trigger my finger tends to pull sideways across the trigger and the trigger crammed in with my finger doesn't always allow the trigger to fully engage and won't fire. Now I know if I take my time and only insert my finger so far all is OK. But in the heat and fear of a real self protection threat I may not be able to do this. Anyone have any suggestions for me? Will I have to sell my new Kahr?

How long have you owned it and how many rounds have you fired?

My hands are not that big, but I find it easier to shoot with a rubber grip sleeve in place. You could experiment cheaply by wrapping the grip with tape and using a bicycle inner tube for the outer layer. Or, you could go for the gusto and try a commercial grip.

The top pistol is wearing a Qwik Grip size 3a (http://www.qwikgrip.com/page2.htm), available from Midway USA as a "Lone Wolf" brand size 3 (http://www.midwayusa.com/Product/364748/lone-wolf-qwik-grip-3-with-finger-grooves-glock-26-36-polymer-black). The extra bulk provided by the grip sleeve makes a big difference for me. The sleeve is even tough enough to stretch over some additional material, such as rubber strips or possibly foam on the back strap.
Best of luck! I am sure there will be other suggestions as well.

The Hogue Hand-all Jr. grip sleeve has a bit of palm swell built in that my help fill your hand and offer less trigger finger. Pachmyer's grip sleeve has some palm swell too.
Thanks again. I really like the idea of trying a sleeve. It should pull my finger backward and hopefully solve the problem. If not I'll have to sell an almost brand new pistol.

I also had the same problem with my P9, my hand size is between lg and xlg. I put a grip on it and it helped, but I had to retrain myself on how I gripped the pistol.
I eventually sold it and bought a p45. A little bigger but fits my hand perfect.
