After hundreds of different loads through my PM9 without a malfunction I found a self defense load my PM9 does not like, the Hornady Cridical Defense. My first box of 20 I had three FTF, a week later with an other box of 20 I had two FTF. My carry load is now the Speer Gold Dot 124 +P, 40 rounds with zero malfunctions. Anyone else have any issues with the Hornady Cridical Defense in 9mm?

nice report, always good to elimnate a bad brand before it isever needed..
kinda hard to beat golddots IMO. I have never shot Hornady CD ammo., when I fnd a few brands of defense stuff that works perfecrt, I STOP right there. Gold Dots ad the entire line of corbon works great in my pM9. I presently carry powerball.

I had a FTF with Critical Defense on two occasions. Both out of one of the 7 rounds mags, so salt needed. On round 3 out of the mag, the bullet stuck on the feed ramp. I tapped the back of the slide and it went into battery. No issues from my other 7 round mag or the 6 round.
Thinking of ordering Remington Golden Saber Bonded 124gr +P here in a few weeks. Read many accounts of it feeding well...

I settled on the 124 gr. Speer Gold Dot for my CM9. Works well in it.

Most of the FTF with the Cridical Defense rounds I could clear by giving the bottom of the magazine a good rap with my hand. A couple I actually had to remove the magazine. They all seemed to be jammed on the feed ramp, never having a FTF with my PM9 I was not sure what I was looking at. Almost looked like the little filler, rubber or what ever, in the hollow point was grabbing or sticking to the feed ramp. Anyway I shot up what I had and went back to the Speer Gold Dot’s, sorry Speer for straying.

I winter carry CD in my Kel-Tec .380 but have never tried their 9mm offering in either my Glock or Kahr. For my PM9 I'll carry either Black Hills 115 EXP or their 124 +P offering. Gold Dots seem to have a stellar reputation particularly in 9mm and particularly 124 +P. I'm sure though that there are folks who have issues with just about every round readily available.

My Sig 239 9mm loves the critical defense as does my T9. I've also got no fail to feeds of it in 38 special in my model 36. :D

My CM9 fired the Hornady CD just fine. But the Corbon PowRball stuck on the feed ramp on the second shot. It was like the rubber nose stuck to the feed ramp.
I've changed to Federal HST in all of my pistols. Last time at the range I fired 150 rounds of it as fast as I could load and pull the trigger (testing reliability of my new PM9). It cycled flawlessly. I can get a box of 50 9mm 124gr. for $19.99.
I've had several failures to feed in different guns with the Hornady critical defense. I won't use it anymore.

I have run gold dot without problems but now I run Federal HST in my 9mm's because one of my husbands guns had a problem with the gold dot. It's just simpler to run the same load. THe least picky of my 9mm's is my 26 year old Sig 226. I think I could shoot anything that would fit in it's chamber. Well, ok that's probably an exaggeration, but I have never had a single malfunction with that gun!

That is precisely what I experienced.

I use Hornady CD with my PM9 and have never had the slightest difficulty. On top of that, it is one of the most accurate loads I've shot with a PM9!

I carry the Remington GSB 124gr +p in my CM9. Have yet to have any feeding issues in well over 100 rnds during various trips to the range.

I've used CD rounds in my P3at and PM9. I've never had a problem in either pistol, but I'm not going to tell you that I haven't wondered about that filler grabbing on the the inside of the mag or the feed ramp. Don't use them anymore because I'm not totally comfortable using them.

Although my Kahr is a 40, my G27 will run 9mm.
I prefer;
Winchester Ranger T-Series 127 +P+
Speer Duty GDHP 124 +P,
or
Federal HST 124.
Never had a problem with any of these.
