I got my first Kahr P-380 as an alternative to conceal carry in a suit. I normally carry a well worn, 30 plus year old chrome plated Colt Cobra in 38 Special. So going to a pistol for CC was a big step. I do own a couple of Glocks, but find them on the heavy side for comfortable CC, even my model 26. Yes, I am old school, a revolver's middle name is "reliable".
I joined the forum and researched the P-380 and compared to similar sized autos. Decided to pay the extra $$$ to buy the Kahr based on the opinions in this forum and youtube videos.
Read about the need to clean the pistol before use. I field stripped it, polished the loading ramp and the lips on the magazines. I looked at the gun, it looked clean. Boy, was I wrong...............
So off I went to a family picnic at the farm with 200 rounds to break in the gun. Well, the nephews and nieces showed up with a lot of young friends who had never fired a handgun. We let them shoot the P-380. Boy was I disappointed...............About 10% hangfires, jammed misloads. Lots of limp wristed folks shooting, but that many problems????
Came home, thoroughly cleaned and lubed the P-380 per the instructions in the forum. Went to the range with the leftover 50 rounds and 200 more rounds.
SURPRISE, SURPRISE, PLEASANT SURPRISE....250 rounds, not a single problem. Nothing, nada.............Every round fed properly, loaded, fired. Slow fire, fast fire, the P-380 was FLAWLESS, boy was my confidence restored. Seven rounds as fast as I could squeeze, single fire, tried it all.
Moral of the story, clean that new Kahr and break it in per the factory directions.
I am impressed with this little gun. Great tight groups at 3 and 7 meters. Shoots solid, feels good in my hand. Points right on target for me.
