Hi all,

Purchased a CW45 a couple weeks ago and took it to the range friday and it went through the first 200 rnds without issue.

Looking to get some more magazines for it.
Can any comment on the fit of the 7 rnds magazines?

It looks like the K725G would of course fit flush with the pistol grip, and have an extension.
However does the K725 on the CW45 sit flush like the stock K625 mag, or does it stick out some not having a flush fit and looking ugly and out of place.

I have read through the thread regarding using 1911 magazines and I may go that route to have a flush fitting 7rnd mag, or possibly 8rnd, but would like to know how the factory 7rnd magazines stack up.

Thanks in advance,
New Guy.

Welcome to the forums!:)
The K725 does stick out:

I think the K725G looks marginally better:

I don't use either anymore as I prefer a modified Officer's size 1911 mag for carry and either more of them or the K625s for spares.

Here are a couple of pictures of my CW45 with a 1911 Combat magazine. I trimmed the edge to fit, and replaced the spring and follower with a Wilson Combat rebuild kit containing the spring and follower.
I haven't taken it to the range yet, but it cycles 7 rounds by hand without a problem. The only thing it doesn't do is lock the slide back after the last round. I'm thinking of bonding a tab to the Plastic Wilson Combat follower to return this function.
It may not sound like much, but being able to carry 7 rounds and have the magazine fit flush makes a difference.

Thanks for the info guys.
I was actually able to pick up a no-name brand Commander size mag from a pawn shop yesterday for cheap. Looks like it will lock back the slide on an empty mag based on manually sliding the rack back on empty. But I need to do a little grinding on the magazine catch to actually get the gun to lock on to the mag.

It's pretty common to have to do a little grinding to get the magazine to lock in place. I only had to take a few thousands off mine to get it to latch.
If you go to CDNN Sports on line you can get the 1911 Gov't 45acp 7rd Blue MET45AUTO magazines for $9.99. I ordered 2 additional and with a delivery charge of $6.99 they are a good bargin. My Wilson Combat magazine rebuild kits cost $7.99 each. That will get me at $21.66 each for 3 magazines.

I'm just curious as to how the 1911 mags can hold one more round than the kahr standard but not be any larger. Is the follower thinner?

Commander size (4.25" bbl) mags are the same as full size 5" 1911 mags. They come in 7rd and 8rd and are the same length. Of course, no guarantee they'll lock back without fiddling with them. The Officers frame 1911 mags are shorter and might fit your CW but are 6rd. The Commander (4" and 4.25" bbls) have the same grip frame. The Officers has a shorter grip frame and therefor a shorter mag.

The Kahr mags are very good quality as opposed to after-market 1911 mags, which are not necessarily good. Good 1911 mags are Colt, Kimber, MecGar, Chip McCormick, and Wilson (more as well, but should be mfgr marked). If they're not marked, I wouldn't trust them. Anyway, not sure I'd agree that hacking on 1911 mags to make them fit your Kahr pistol is a good idea. Want to risk your life on amateur gunsmithing?

Kahr pistols have a unique feedway and actually feed the cartridge to hit the barrel mouth at an angle (check your feed ramp on the barrel). The mag follower was designed to facilitate the feeding of .45's with a DA pistol so they could manufacture it thinner. The 1911 mags don't have an angle to hit, they feed right to the ramp and are single action and thin to begin with. I have never had a feedway stoppage on a properly broken in Kahr .45 and I have several of them, as well as a number of 1911's.
