I've been looking for a Sig P238 for awhile now. Found one today. Traded my Walther PPK even for it. It's a used one. The only way I could tell it was used was because the barrel was dirty. Who ever had it had never lubed it, it was dry as a bone. Got it cleaned up and lubed. Going to try to get to the range tomorrow.

Wow! Admittedly, I am a 1911 fan, but if it looks anything like this picture from the SIG website, it is gorgeous!
Best of luck! http://home.mindspring.com/%7Ejustsomeguy/thumbsup.gif

No you won't . . . you will just have another great pistol in your collection!
I am "safe" . . . no "fotays" planned, so far as I know.

I have 2 p238's and they are different. One has the older thinner slide and second gen mag but I got Sig to send me the updated flat recoil spring which made it reliable. It is from May 2010. The newer one I have is from July 2011 with all the updates. Do you have the older version or the updated version? Both of mine work perfectly just curious what version you have. If you have any issues with yours I have some knowledge of the ways to resolve them

The date on the box is June 16 / 2011. I have the Nitron model, it has black Aluminum Grips. I'm thinking about getting those Rosewood grips as pictured in a previous post. I like wood grips.

Those look like they'd be pretty easy to whittle. Hard to say whats on the inside, never seen them but probably just flat I'd suspect.
Wood is good, darn, I'm a poet and didn't know it.

The one you have has all the updates so you should have no problem at all. They are great little guns. You were lucky to find one used to save money on the purchase. Look forward to seeing your range report.

Well if somebody can part with their grips for awhile I could probably whittle out some grips from a grip on this one. I usually say no to that as it's tough but those look like they wouldn't be too hard.
I'm here for ya if you need me. If you want to whittle and fit I can checker em after the fact too. Whatever works for you.
Not sure what they sell the wood grips for, might not be too much either. Never checked.

Check out Altamont grips for the P238. They have a pretty wide selection to choose from.

Bawanna, thanks for the offer to to help me with grips. I found some today that are factory Rose Wood grips. They have the Sig Sauer carved into them. They cost $60.00. Found them on line at a place called Parts and Pistols LLC.
I took it to the range today. Had some Ammo made in Mexico and some made in Serbia. Cheap stuff,150 rounds. Shot all over the place. Wife shot it too. She had the same results. I'm blaming it on the ammo. Real dirty stuff. The gun worked great no ftf's or fte's. I'll go again in a few days and take some WWB,Fed. and Remington ammo.

don't mean to jump in but.....
If you have not seen Bawanna's grips please take some time and search them out. He is an artist!!! Looking at some of the grips he has made has got me thinking....maybe I do need to get a 1911 after all, just so I might be able to get a few pannels made by him.

There's grip life other than 1911's too. Just not much of a life.
I gotta get a MK9 and a K9. Boy would the sawdust fly when that happens.
Thanks much for the kind endorsement Don K.

Great picture demonstrating how similar in size the two appear to be! Thanks!

I've seen pictures of Bawanna's work and I agree it is superb. I was really considering contacting him about making grips for my 1911. I really wanted factory grips for the Sig before I got custom one's.
