I suppose I'm what you'd call a "newby" - new to Kahr firearms and new to this forum.
Today I came home with a CW45 - purchased because I was impressed with the size, weight and trigger pull. (And because I got a decent trade-in price on another pistol that drove me crazy when trying to take it apart for cleaning.)
Turns out I didn't know just how aggravating a firearm can be.

Now, I'm not a gunsmith or a rocket scientist and I haven't been allowed within 500 feet of a Holiday Inn since Prom Night 1959, but it seems to me the geniuses at Kahr might give some thought to putting those tiny witness marks on both sides of the frame and slide.
Trying to hold the slide in place while turning the pistol over and using your third hand to grab a hammer... Well, you know what it's like.

But if anyone has an easy solution, I'm more than happy to listen and more than happy to become a member so I can pick your brains as necessary.

oh yues there are some great tips for ur issue on here and I am sure very shortly te members will let u in on them. Actually IMO once u get the hang of the gun itself, the witness markes will not be used and u will watch the slide lever to see that it lines up.

OK guys help this guy out!!!!

After you remove the pin a few times you will be able to push the pin out very easily with the tip of your finger. As a temporary fix you could put your own witness marks on the right side of the gun using an erasable magic marker. How's that fer smarts. :)

There's a (halfmoon) cut in the slide that hides behind the slide release lever.
If you tip the gun correctly you'll see it.
I just pull the slide back, and when I see something shiney in that cut, I start pushing on the pin and presto, it pops out.
It's the bump on the lever that must line up with that halfmoon cut, that allows the pin to move.
just sayin'

There are vids at Kahr's website.

Witness marks? You mean there are witness marks to line up?

Just yankin your chain. I just look at the lever and when it lines up with the relief in the slide, push the pin out. Same with putting it back in.

Welcome to the forum.

PS - jocko forgot to tell you to go to the tech section and look at the two stickys for preping and lubing. He also for got to tell you to "shoot it like you stole it"

What muggsy said. I have always thought that Kahrs were easy to break down, but I have over five years of practice, so I can do it blindfolded.

BTW, good choice on the CW45. I carry mine most of the time even though it's about my least expensive pistol.

Found a home-grown solution to use until the "new gun stiffness" is gone: I pull the slide back far enough that I can introduce a .22 dummy cartridge into the opening.
Do it so the cartridge portrudes out the side, touching the ejector.
This keeps the slide back and the cartridge is just thick enough that the witness marks line up.
That done, you have both hands free to get the slide release/pin out.

I use a cloths pin to hold the CW in place and I use another cloths pin to press on the pin.

All of our Kahrs have more than a couple hundred rounds thru them and I still need something other than a finger to press the pin out.

I must have fingers of steel. Keep seeing all different posts about the difficulty of removing the slide stop pin. Safety checked and mag out...I just put the web of my hand in the normal shooting position on the back of the grip but upside down and wrap my fingers over the back of the slide, pull back to the witness marks, free hand's thumb pops the pin right out. Been doing that since my p9 and tp9 were new out of the case. Weird. Guess I'm a freak :D

I Agree the Half moon is the key to the simplicity of the breakdown. When i fist started with Kahrs i used a gun vise as my third hand. Don't need it at all anymore!
