I just coated my CW9 front sight with yellow Bright Sights paint. It's for range purposes. I hope CRC Brakleen doesn't make it disappear, like I read about in earlier threads:eek:.

It looks good as hell, and super bright! We will see how it goes...

I'd only use the brake cleaner for the striker channel and just use solvent on the rest. Up there I'd probably just use an oily patch anyhow.

I never seem to get solvent or oil on my sights now that I think about it.

Anxious to see how they hold up for you. Might be a good option.

I only use it in the striker channel, as well. I guess I'll just need to take that extra precaution of any brake cleaner accidentally making contact with the sights.

So far, I'm very impressed. I will see how it holds up for six-months.

I use bright colored nail polish, and it seems to hold up very well. And comes right off with some nail polish remover when you want to re-do them.

Paint is paint so I'd expect the CRC Brake Cleaner to mess them up good. I've tried fingernail polish and others including a bright red rhinestone I have now. However, I discovered the jewel fails with side lighting as it move the bright spot to the opposite side of the light source.

So I'm back to wanting Big Dot night sights.

I never spray my sights with ANY CLEANER.If the sights are painted instead of a blued sight. more than likely most any cleaner is gonna harm paint. IT'S PAINT!!
Certainly not rocket scienceto spray clean the striker channel through the cleanout hole and never get anythingon the sights. I have xs sights onmy PM9 and I think they are immune to any brakecleaners I have ever used, for the finish is still there asis the dot

Hoppes #9 right on the bottle tells an ower not to soak nikelchrome plated barrels with thier solvent for a long period of time but will also tell u it is OK to clean the barrel with. I know kahr has stated the same thing that #9 is OK just don't soak the barrel in it. So my point is COMMON SENSE should come into play when using any cleaner, be it brake cleaner, birchwood cleaner, gun scrubber,u name it

Read the warrning on Birchwood's Powder blast spray cleaner...

He certainly does. And, his grip crafting skills are unbelievable!

I spent an hour of gun-play after work today, and man that front sight was bright and beautiful on the target!! The bright yellow really does stand out.

Very true jocko. I shouldn't be clumsy enough to get any on my sights. You were the one who told me about the CRC, and it works really great! It gets all of that gunk out of the channel. Thanks again!

Any cleaner/solvent is going to soften the "Bright Sights" paint if contact is made. Trust me, I know first hand! You're just as well off buying nail polish, model paint, etc for paint on sights and save a few bucks.
