First time hands on my grandpa's Kimber Ultra 45 and I'm hammering nails, I shoot my fiances sig p238 and I'm almost as on, I shhot my own gun and I'm shooting well but not that good (cm9). Everytime I shoot a gun with night sights I shoot better than ever, maybe I just need more time with my own gun (or to invest in a new additional one :) )

I'm a pretty new shooter and realize you should point, not aim but man those sights seem to affect me.

Could be the way they draw your eye to the front sight, or it could be that those are 1911 platforms, and you shoot that better.

Could be the DAO trigger vs single action on the other two you mentioned. Single action and typical striker trigger systems are so different to shoot. DAO requires more work and trigger practice to produce a clean, consistent pull. Just keep practicing. Dry firing will help a ton. If shooting frequently is cost prohibitive, pick up a .22 revolver with a smooth trigger and you'll be able to focus on trigger pull. Also, shoot closer range for now and try to eval what you are doing wrong using the pict below to check yourself.

Not mine, I think someone posted this here recently...but a great resource.

Those both make a lot of sense, it's silly I didn't think of them myself! I guess I'll work on my trigger pull and keep collecting pennies towards my next pistol.

I posted this last week. 50 rounds at 15 yards with my CM9. Target Pictures (http://kahrtalk.com/showthread.php?t=12517&referrerid=7163) Check out post #1. A little concentration and a consistent trigger "squeeze".

Oh yes, I'm not trying to blame my cm9, I was just trying to figure out what was making the difference, it's definitely my trigger control.

From my own experience, if I am missing badly 99% of the time I can trace it to trigger control. The other 1% is usually grip. Dry fire with snap caps, it helps.

Sights make a huge difference to me.
I shoot much better with three dot night sights than FS.
But XS 24/7 Express Big Dots are game changers.

I like them so much I'm changing out my SigLights (P239/P220) and Ameriglo I-Dot Pros (G27) to Big Dots.
I love them on everything.
Have Big Dots front sights on both of my S&W J-Frames (342 ti/640-1) as well.

At least for me, sights matter.
