I am buying my second CM9 this week and then I am going to send my 1st one for some detailing, but need some feedback. Here are the questions...

I really want a black slide, so I am going to have it duracoated or ceracoated. Any preferences and why? I have actually given thought to a purple slide.

Are there any "horns" that I should leave in place for functional reasons?

Although I don't find the front sight hard to see, I am thinking about different colors for visibillity. Can anyone recommend a front sight that they know will work on the CM9 after dovetail is installed? I am very concerned about losing my sighting ability and accuracy. I would enjoy hearing from anyone who has had it done.

While it is at the doctor, does anyone have any other suggestions?

Yes - dehorn - absolutely at the front of the ejection port if noplace else.

Ceracoat, or GunKote... whatever

and dovetail if it suits you

Duracoat and XS Big Dot, they really need nothing else in my opinion.
[ PM comes with dovetail and black slide, next gun might be better aka cheaper, getting PM model]

Jeepster -

I am born in Hibbing and raised in Winona. I know you've heard of those places. That gun is SEXY! Which XS Big Dot is that one? I need to knwo the exact number, so I can have it dovetailed into my CM9.

Thanks!

Now that looks good! I love the XS sights and may buy another Kahr just to have them. On another thread someplace I posted about Robar's, I just love the work they have done on a couple of guns I have come across. The finish they put down looks great to me as it is from the aerospace sector and I'm a jet mechanic. I see their finishes applied to parts that live in a rough world.

Small world....I was just in Winona and LaCrosse today. Just call XS and tell them you need a set for your PM Kahr. You in Minnesota now?

Not in MN now. I live in Western North Carolina. My mother still lives about 15 minutes from LaCrosse. Kinda miss it, but cannot handle the cold.

The compleat conversion of that gun is a bit pricey, but it is a sexy looking carry gun. The tester from American Handgunner was in love with way it shot too.
Yep! They will be getting alot of my money, soon.
Happy Birthday tooooo me...

Hey guys! Lets step this up a notch. Help me customize this thing with specifics. I picked up the "clone" today, so after running it for a couple hundred rounds, I will be sending in the older sister for the detail. Met a great guy who sold me the gun and the serial numbers are only 15 apart! FREAKY!

CJB, Jeepster and Planedude have great input so far. I am going to do the XS Big Dots for sure, and will get as close to the Robarguns dehorn as I can. CJB gave me pretty specific details on a specific dehorn area, but need more. Sounds like duracoat is the shiz, so looking at using it. Should I go bizarre with the color or just black? Matte black or something else? How do you feel about a purple slide?

I will run out of money after dehorn, coating and sights, so no trigger work. Sights first and the dehorn and coating will go together. This should be fun! Then there is always the second gun.

BW..."sick" is not sick. Kinda like "bad" is good. Us old guys can hang together.

You might as well have them stipple the grip for you while your wallets out. It will be a little more uniform all over, less rough front and back.

No more need for a tube, or skate board tape.

Melt down the slide lock lever some while they are dehorning.

I also liked the way Jocko flushed and recessed the take down pin on the right side. Probably slightly more effort to remove but looks wicked cool.

If purple is your thing, go for it. Personally I'm a black or stainless guy still trying to wrap my mind around Jeepsters green wardrobe. I think its growing on me but the growth rings are narrow and slow.

Gotcha, sick isn't sick. Bad is good.....Old guys hang together??? not in any mano mano way I hope.

I knew that of course, its cool dog..

Why do I feel like I missed the school bus and I get to ride in dads Edsel?

Both look great. At first I was partial to the mat on the 40 nut the flat is already making a come back, kind of tactical perhaps. I wouldn't kick either one out of the save to make room for a........, I think I got that sayin all messed up somehow.

I think I like the flat black better. Can we see the other side with the barrel contrast? Can they coat the slide release. I'm thinking to leave the slide release and barrel the same. I hear any work in a Kahr barrel will wear off.

Bawanna has to bring out the growth ring analogy being from the PacNW.

Just looked at the flat black again and like it a lot!

BW - stick to the tree analogies and we will all be cool!

I think leaving the slide release would make a nice contrast. Melt it a bit but leave it shiny. Ummm kind of like a maple leave in early fall.

Are you a tree hugger:behindsofa: Seemed to hit an eroginos zone with the tree scenario, kind of like when I scratch my Beagles back in just the right spot and his leg gets to whippin.

That duracoat looks great and if you want to go with that it's definitely a viable option.

I have plenty of experience with Cerakote, and if you want something tough as nails, it has my vote. This is Coyote Tan.

BW - no tree huggin going on here :hippie:, but when I see some of these custom gun jobs my "leg gets to whippin".:001_tt2:
